I just glued some pieces of rubber to the hood. It's worked so far.

Anyone took a grinder to the bottom of the mounting flanges on the STB? Not sure how thick the plate is, but it would make it sit lower on the towers.

I'm not sure I would want to do that, easier just to put some sort of pad there.

Got mine in today and it went straight on. I didn't even take it into the garage, I popped the hood and bolted her up. And took it around the block. I will hunt for something to stop the rubbing.

I will go with the washer mod

Not only eliminate the rubbing, it allows air to enter the engine bay to aid cooling if you remove the rear seal

Re: GM Strut Brace and the Hood: Rubbing Issues

I put mine between two trees and bent it. You cant even tell and there is enough play
in the bolt holes to accomodate widening it which lowers the bar.
Anyway...there is still play left. I may do it a bit more.

Re: GM Strut Brace and the Hood: Rubbing Issues

Ya I noticed I'm having SERIOUSE rubbing issues with it and the MPD hood. I'm gonna take it out and bend it. I looked the other day and the padding I put on to stop it with the stock hood were almost starting to rip cause it's so bad.

Re: GM Strut Brace and the Hood: Rubbing Issues

It bends easy so be careful. That has worked for me though on the MPD.

It sounds like your hood wasn't lined up right. I just put velcro(fuzzy side) at the contact points and all is cool.
