ok guys i have gone through 2 racks and i also had the TBS with the immedant shaft was re postioned.. i took my car to my dealership on friday about this problem to try and get it fixed permently. So i waited in the waiting area for about 3 hours. when they came and got me they said they changed out the immedant shaft out instead of re postioning it. If you guys want i will post up the sheet the dealer game me. If this is any help for any of ya's with this problem still. ( also suprised that my dealership had this part in stock usually i have to wait for the part to come in and make another appointment... unless it might be a redesign for us)

they stock it because they get replaced so much. the TSB says to lube it but that doesnt fix it for long so they just get repalced

Re: Clunking in steering
I got mine lube and repositioned and now the car steers noticeably better and with no more clunks. The dealer said they are not aware of this common issue...such liars. I have test drove a few G6s with this steering clunk problem.

Re: Clunking in steering
I had to call GM regarding this issue, had mine repositioned/lubricated 3 times already and I had the shaft replaced as well but the clunk came back after 3 month! GM said to wait for an Updated/redesigned Shaft which hasn't come out yet.. They didn't want to replace it again because the clunk would come back again at some point so all they are doing at the mo is to lubricate it until an updated shaft is available..

Re: Clunking in steering
Malibus most certainly do it, along with a ton of different GM cars. Depending on the vehicle, it usually either merrits a "lube" or "replacement" .....for a while there was a "Stroke the shaft" That was a good laugh, haha. To my knowledge... there isn't anything for repostioning, they must have misunderstood something lol.2007 G6 GT Coupe

g6's and malibus had one to reposition the shaft on the gear for a hard tump/clunk type noise. it didnt fix much

Re: Clunking in steering
I worked for gm and its deeper then just malibus and g6's. I mean impalas, trucks and more.... Its a problem. And if they offer to just lube the shaft tell them to shove it and to replace it. Lubing is just a temp fix and a waste of a trip for us all. Hope this helps.2006 G6
