  • 02 Sensor

    Hello,

So I'm currently in the process of replacing an Oxygen sensor in my 06 Pontiac G6 GT. I've already purchased the part & was going to have it installed but figured why pay someone when I can most likely do it myself.

My issue is the sensor is not really in plain sight. It's bank 2 sensor 2 which I know is behind the cc. Does anyone have a photo of exactly where the sensor is located. This is my 1st time & I want to be sure I'm swapping the correct sensor.

Also would it be possible to swap this out without having to get underneath the car?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Re: 02 Sensor

How did you determine that it was the O2 sensor? What code was it throwing?

Bank 2 is the side of the motor next to the radiator. The cat should be almost directly behind the radiator and the O2 sensor is on the exhaust piping right after the cat.

Thanks for your reply, a while back I was throwing several codes that all my O2 sensors were malfunctioning. Had a mechanic take a look & turns out the the sensor (b2 s2) wire was caught in a bolt that had been tightened down at some point & was causing a short. The mechanic did a quick fix and temporarily fixed the wire. The codes immediately cleared after. Well the codes came back before I had a chance to replace the sensor, so Im assuming the fix came undone.

I would like to replace the sensor without needing to get under the car. Is it possible to access it from under the hood?

I believe you'll have to jack the car up and do it from underneath.
