  • Wire Gauge - Headlight Pigtail

Does anyone know the wire gauge i should use to replace the pigtails on our headlights?

i cannot find a clear answer. i used 18-16 gauge last time and it is not providing enough electricity to the resister.

i was thinking 24-20 gauge this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

the resister on the eagle eyes, i changed the pigtail on the passenger side. the only thing that works are the halos and the car has to be turned on for any of the lights in the headlight to light up. i assumed that i used to large of a wire and the Bulb is not getting enough energy to fire.

when i replaced the pigtail it worked it started having this problem. i have the connectors, i just want to match the stock sized wire as close as possible.

i appreciate any help you can provide.

I bought 20-24 but have not put them in yet. I think Lampoon started a thread on how to do this. Somewhere he said which size he bought.

This is the thread i originally used to find the correct connector but i cannot see where it states what gauge to use. i noticed last night that i used 16 gauge the first time. 20 maybe what i am looking for. i cannot find the old connector to verify.

20 gauge did the trick, it was the thicker wire that was causing the issues. It is nice to be able to drive at night without the cops being up my ass
