LED Headlight?

Hey, I had a quick question about LED. Is there a specific LED that will work for low beam? If so, what is it? I saw a kit at superbrightled, but it's $100 and you need a small box, like the HIDs. Is this the only way?

Why is that? I've heard always go for LED over HID from a few places.

Regular led bulbs for headlights wouldn't provide nearly enough light as compared to HIDS.
However in the recent years led tech has really grown.

That's why you see kits with ballasts now similar to HIDs. They need to provide the higher power output to make the LED bulb bright as hell, as a result from that many of those bulbs have heat sinks on the back, some even with a little fan.

My buddy with a speed shop sells led headlight bulbs now in addition to HID. I'll have to admit. I was blown away by how bright and even the lighting is. Sold me on the fact that LEDs can compete with HIDs now.

The only problem I found with the LED bulbs is the physical size... I didn't get a chance to fit em yet but I'm pretty sure the core support would need slight modification to accommodate the back of the bulb.

I was looking at HID vs LED comparisons and some pictures, HID blew LED out of the water, in others however LED looked so much better than HID, probably what you are talking about. Also those shops who told me LED were better, they kept saying that's where the future is at, they strongly suggested not installing the HID.

I think I'll stick to the HID for now, but it's good to know that LED are starting to become a competitor now. Thanks for the info though. Good to know.

They scatter light all over the road as well due to improper optics.

LED lighting is the future, but right now it's the present when it comes to aftermarket lighting.
With OEM lighting, the future is now. I would totally buy a car with LED headlights because the lighting is designed around using LED bulbs and the complexity involved.

Gotcha, makes sense. If they're designed with LED, more likely than not they got the whole optics, heat sink, and luminosity figured out to meet standards.

Question out of topic, any suggestion on a decent pair of HID projectors? I love my current HID headlights, however the focus is not the best, it's good as a normal headlight. Also, found out there was a leak this winter when it started freezing inside. So I'm going to take it apart and reseal it and look into a new set of projectors. I'm assuming they're not hard to put on and can be done. I've seen a few good rating ones but wondering if you guys had any experience with any brand or specific set?

I use LED for my taillight bulbs and reverse light. That's all I trust until I breakdown and get a pair to try in the headlights. Not at this very moment though. Its HID bulbs for the years to come!

I have a few set of HIDs 6000k 35w ballast for the low Beam and 8000k 55w ballast I love them. Driving down a highway and I can light up the whole highway when no one is in front of me lol. I did put some led to try in the fog light and I would say I hate them they don't do anything but makes the front end of the car match the HIDs

What headlights do you use Hidden? Eagle Eyes? Spyder? Or another?

I use the stock headlight because I like the clear lens on there.

I agree, I also liked the stock with the black housing, in hindsight I think I prob shoulda went with those, don't et me wrong I like the look of the EE but there's a few probs :/

Looking into HIDs myself for my lows and sylvainia Zoe's for the highs

Just got a new clutch put into my g6 gtp coupe so I would take a picture lol. But when I put my high beams on I can't look at my headlight at all lol
