  • Best way to remove the E-brake cable from rear caliper?

I'm planning on replacing my rear passenger side caliper next weekend and need a good way to remove the e-brake cable from the caliper and put it back on the new one. Any help would be appreciated.

I was at a junkyard early today and I tried to get the cable off a caliper on car and it was a pain. I had to grab it with vice grips and fight it out of there and damaged the cable pretty good in the process. I was hoping to find an easier way before trying it on my car.

they are made to not come loose. They are a pain in the ass, i usually use a pry bar. An extra set of hands helps with re-installation.

They're a PITA, but there no real trick to it. It just takes muscle.

is it easier if put the ebrake on / pull the ebrake, prior to removing the cable?
