    My warning about melting the housing was not based on using LED, but the original question about just using a regular low beam bulb in the backup light housing.

    I feel the LEDs are the best bet for more light in the reverse housing, or using additional auxiliary lighting as also suggested.

        on my other car i went with autozones brightest leds.they sucked.i returned them and got halogen bulbs.much better.

          I also thought of mounting a led light bar for the reverse light. It would be one not too bright. Just bright enough and not to be as bright as an off road type.
