    Re: alero retrofit! in progress.

In order to fit the centric rings over the lens holders, you'll need to cut the top and bottom parts of the reflectors where they and the lens holders touch. It looks as if that'll work because the plastic behind the lens will hide that. I still really think you should've gotten a 2.5" projector for better fitment...

I would just skip using the rings and glue the shroud right to the reflector.

        Re: alero retrofit! in progress.

The projectors did not come with centric rings. The black rings around the lens on the projector is built in to the assembly.

But like I said. Once the projectors are aligned and securely mounted into the housing I cant do anything with a shroud. If I do it now then the projector has to move then I gotta cut to fit again. If it will even fit!

Honestly the projector doesnt look THAT BAD without a shroud. I think it only helps because the ring on the projector is black. And so is half my headlight. So depending what happens I may not be able to run a shroud. I mean I will think of all possible ways. But once the projector is mounted in. I really dont want to be cutting the housing anymore with the projector right there. Once its in its in....

Worst case scenario, I cant use a shroud.... someone gave me an idea of using lexan and painting it to use as a shroud but idk.

As for glueing the shroud to my housing. Not a bad idea. But the projectors sit at an angle. As do the stock bulbs. Thats just how the housing was made. Its not a straight point like some lights. But ill try to figure out something. Im about to go test the lights on the car align them and hopefully mount them in the housing.

All projectors that come from TRS are supposed to have the rings included :/

Even if the projectors sit at an angle, you're going to have to cut up the shroud to mount it, so you can just cut it to match how the projector sits.

If sleepy bought b-stock projectors and shrouds then they wouldn't come with centric rings.

I may. Gotta see if I can even do a shroud first before I go for them. I dont want to cut the shit out of my headlights on the top and bottom. Idk its still up in the air.

It's going to look like a hackjob if you don't use a shroud. You could always make a custom shroud with acrylic (I think that's the right material lol).

                      Re: alero retrofit! in progress.

Ehhh yes and no imo atleast. Its going to suck if I cant
Like you said. I was better off with a 2.5 then a 3. But these are just to nice haha.

                      But some added progress.

Dont refer to the tape btw.

Lights are mounted with quik steel atm and aimed where I want them! Cure time for the quick steel is 1 hour. So waiting for that then I will pull lights out and epoxy/jbweld them to assure they are steady.

                      Left to do.

                      - jbweld projectors.
                      - clean up assembly lens and headlight it self.
                      - seal back of headlights since I had to cut back there. :/
                      - seal pilot holes in back (easy)
                      - wire up high beam
                      - put headlights together
                      - figure out how to cut the shroud to work, if I can even use it.....

Question... Why are you JB Welding the projectors on instead of bolting them on?

Most people doing retros use jbweld (depending if they was "permanent" or not.) Atleast that I have seen. Some use screws for reassurance. But im just jb welding the heck out of it. Lol

I know some have used screws. Some have used none.
