  • Sway Bar Bushings?

I have a low level thumping noise when driving on rough surfaces. Think I might need sway bar bushings. Can anyone tell me what
size the bar is on a 08 GXP? Thanks.

Depends what RPO code you have for your suspension level...

    FE0 Suspension:
    21 mm front
    19 mm rear

    FE2 Suspension:
    22 mm front
    20 mm rear

You sure it's coming from the low end? I have the same kinda noise, and it happens to be that my top hats on my front struts are worn out. Not an immediate thing to change but it does get annoying.

does that kinda sound like something real light is loose up front? almost sounds like a damn valence is loose flopping in the wind but not cause its even when im driving REAL slow. that real light thumping that I've been looking for for WEEKS but its been so COLD I cant stand to crawl around outside for long. Yes its seriously aggravating the F*** out of atleast one person.

              Re: Sway Bar Bushings?

It def sounds like my issue...it's the top strut mounts there worn out. If they move just a little they make an annoying thumping sounds even going slow. Have you gone on a gravel road? Sucks doesn't it?

Thanks for all the info. Never thought about the top strut mounts. Are they something I can purchase and replace myself?

If you've never messed with suspension parts before, I'd recommend a shop do it. Only because you have to compress the spring. If you can tackle this job, you'll need a spring compressor, I'd also highly recommend air tools. Makes the job easier. I'm sure there is a how to on installing lowering springs. Just follow the steps on disassembly. I hope this solves your annoying problem, good luck and keep us updated.

It should be listed on a sticker in your glove compartment. Given its the GXP it might be the second one with larger bars.

IIRC - my G6 the 3.5L has the 3.6L GXP sway bars in the front/rear, so make sure you measure the bars with a 19 to 24mm wrench to be sure!

What I found even though my G6 was supposed to have smaller sway bar I got the largest since it probably was laying around in the plant and used....
