  • ** Eagle Eyes Halo Projector Headlight Retrofit **

Hi. I have good news for you all today! I finally decided to open up one of my Eagle Eyes headlight housings today and I thought I'd share some pictures with you guys!

FYI: I do NOT grant anyone permission to use my pictures at free will. Please ask me for permission first. If I grant you permission, please put a reference to this post by using its link shown in your browser's URL bar and implement the proper credits to me. Thank you!

This post is open to discussion, but please don't start fights about personal opinions or anything senseless like that.

If you have any questions or picture requests (while I still have this housing open), please feel free to reply to this post and let me know.

Okay, the show must go on!

    WARNING: Image Overload

    ----------------------------------------------------------//

    Inside of main plastic piece

Closeup of projector and high-beam reflector

    Side view of projector

Normal view of clear plastic piece

Inside view of clear plastic piece

Closeup view of the internals of the LEDs (front and side rows)

Closeup of the back sides of the CCFL Halos

Length measurement of projector (approximate measurement, about 5.5 inches)

Lens diameter measurement (approximate measurement, about 2.5 inches)

    ----------------------------------------------------------//

It looks like the Morimoto H1 6.0 Bi-Xenon projectors would fit perfectly in these housings! I don't show it on here quite yet, but the measurement for the projector halo is 60mm and the reflector halo is 80mm. I think the Morimoto XB LED 60mm and 80mm halos would also fit perfectly on these housings! That would be great because it would allow you to remove the pesky CCFL inverter.

I have some more pictures for you guys, along with a couple measurements.

This post is to mainly show how to take the black-painted plastic piece out of the clear plastic piece, as well as how to take the halos out.

    ----------------------------------------------------------//

This is, again, the inside of the clear plastic piece.

To take the black plastic piece out:

Take out this screw, which is down and to the left of the projector slot.

Also take out this screw, which is almost directly below the high-beam reflector spot.

Then you'll have to carefully maneuver the black-painted plastic piece out of the clear lens, and this will be the result.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to wrap the clear lens with 2-3 layers of plastic wrap (shown below), just to make sure nothing gets inside it (dust, food, soda, etc.).

    ----------------------------------------------------------//

    To take the halos out:

    ----------------------------------------------------------//

Take the screws out of the bottom of the back side of the halos, as indicated with an arrow in the picture below. They're in the same spot on both halos.

The inside diameter of the projector halo is 64cm, as shown below.

The outside diameter of the projector halo is 80cm, as shown below.

The inside diameter of the high-beam reflector is 84cm, as shown below. It may look 82cm-ish, but it's truly 84cm.

The outside diameter of the high-beam reflector is 100cm, as shown below.

    ----------------------------------------------------------//

After measuring the projector halo sizes, I bought these bad boys: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200941448925...84.m1439.l2648 I bought the last ones huehuehuehuehuehueh.
I hope they turn out good!
I might purchase a pair of halos for the high-beam reflectors, but I'm not sure if I want halos there or not... Opinions anyone?

Re: ** INSIDE of Eagle Eyes Projector Headlight **

Here are a few necessary projector measurements.

      ----------------------------------------------------------//

Length (it's in fact roughly 132mm)

Width (it's in fact exactly 87mm)

Height (it's in fact exactly 70mm)

      ----------------------------------------------------------//

I'm more than certain that the Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 Bi-Xenon projectors will fit without a problem. The width and height of the Eagle Eyes projector I know for a fact are exact matches of the Morimotos, but the length might be off by a few millimeters from the looks of it, but it may be exactly 136mm (the exact same as the Morimotos). Measuring the dimensions of a projector is harder than a person would think.

I just want to let you guys know that a pair of Morimoto Mini H1 6.0's and a set of DDM Tuning 6000k HID's are on their way!

I'll post pictures later of the slight modification I had to make to the headlight to make the new LED halos fit. By the way, these halos are REALLY bright, even just on a 9V battery!

I did it with a heatgun, but you could use an oven I suppose. The sealant that comes with these housings is really soft, so a heatgun would suffice in cracking them open.

I think those LEDs are soldered in. They look like LEDs you could just go and pick up at Radioshack.

Re: ** INSIDE of Eagle Eyes Projector Headlight **

I'm back with some more information for you guys! What I've been doing for the past 1 1/2 weeks or so is cutting up my headlight so it'll be able to fit my LED halos, modding up the projector bracket so it'll fit the Morimoto Mini H1 6.0's, and taking pictures.

                    ----------------------------------------------------------//

So, the first picture here just shows the high beam reflector bowl out of its mounting bracket.

Here's a shot of the high beam reflector bowl's mounting spot.

                    Backside of it

When taking out the high beam reflector bowl, make sure to unplug the ground wire from the back of the bowl, as shown below.

When taking the projector and reflector bowl's mounting bracket out, make sure to detach it from the aiming mech, as shown below. It's easy to do (simply pull them apart).

                    Further separated

This is what the headlight looks like with the whole mounting bracket out.

When you take the mounting bracket out, you'll notice two ball joints that it attaches to. This is the one below the projector hole.

This is the one aside the high beam hole.

In order to cut out the necessary plastic for the LED halos and Morimotos to fit, I had to buy this bad boy along with a few attachments.

                    Drill bit attachments

                    Dremel-Reinforced and regular cut-off wheels

Here's after I trimmed the excess plastic off the projector slot to make the LED halos fit. I just had at it with the Dremel with the rotary sander attachment. I know it looks amateurish, but the halo covers it just fine.

I look a little less amateurish approach with the high beam slot. I had to buy some smaller Dremel chucks to use a smaller Dremel drill bit. I'll edit in the exact sizes later. Anyway, I drilled teeny holes all around it and cut in between them in sequence.

This shows the high beam slot's excess plastic trimmed off. (view 1)

This shows the high beam slot's excess plastic trimmed off. (view 2)

WOOT! The halos fit perfectly! (view 1)

WOOT! The halos fit perfectly! (view 3)

These things are flippin bright! - on 9V battery - (low beam halo)

These things are flippin bright! - on 9V battery - (high beam halo)

                    ----------------------------------------------------------//

That's all the pictures I have for you guys for now! I'll make sure to post some more in a day or so.

Stockers meaning the CCFL's that come on EE's? In that case, H*LL yes. When I turn them on with that 9V battery, I have to squint, even in the daylight.

Here's some more pictures for you guys! These series of pictures show the process I went through to mount the halos to the housing. Also at the end of this post, I show a bit of a test fitted Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 projector.

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

First, I taped them on four sides to keep them stable.

                          Closer-up view (overall)

                          Closer-up view (high beam slot)

                          Closer-up view (projector slot)

                          Backside when taped (overall)

Backside when taped (high beam slot)

                          Backside when taped (projector slot)

I used this DAP clear silicone to mount the halos. You can get it at any auto parts store; in my case, AutoZone.

                          Here's the projector halo siliconed.

                          Here's the high-beam halo siliconed.

Notice, no silicone shows! (projector slot)

Notice, no silicone shows! (high-beam slot)

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

That's where the halos are at this point in time.

BONUS: Test fitted Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 projectors

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

Overall shot of the test fit

Notice I only zip-tied it on for the test fit, as shown below.

Here's a side view of it. I had to shave a little plastic out of the mounting bracket to fit the oval-shaped bowl of the Morimoto projector. It took me all but 1 minute to do so.

                          Back view

                          Side view

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

I have found the Morimoto is a mm or so too long to fit when the dust cover is on, so I'll have to fit 1-2 1mm washers before permanently mounting it.

Hey guys, another update! No pictures this time, but no biggy.

                            ----------------------------------------------------------//

                            Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 Fitment Information -
What I failed to see at first was, if you're looking at the projector mount head-on, the halogen projector that already comes in these housings has 2mm standoffs on the top and bottom-left screw holes and a 4mm standoff on the bottom-right standoff. When I test fitted the Morimoto, I didn't have any standoffs implemented whatsoever. Also, when I put the black recessed plastic piece back into the clear lens, I test fitted that whole piece into the main black part of the housing (where the projector mounts), and what I found was the test fitted Morimoto was a little too high, so I have to further modify the projector mount. I'll post pictures sometime in the near future.

                            ----------------------------------------------------------//

If you guys have any questions, concerns, opinions, etc. feel free to ask!

i know this is a side note but have you thought about changing that orange reflector into silver/white is it just 3M on there or is that in the actual housing itself of the headlight, i understand that you'd have to craft a reflector but its just an option you have while its opened up
