No, I haven't thought of that. I don't think I'd do it because it's meant to reflect the orange light when the blinker is on. By the way, it's made of plastic and is just clipped inside the housing itself. There's no sort of 3M on there.

Hello! I have some more pictures for you guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with school and other personal things.

      ----------------------------------------------------------//

So, here was the result from siliconing the LED halos on.

      Close(er) up

      Inside view

The whole piece inside the clear lens

      ----------------------------------------------------------//

This shows further progress with mounting the Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 projector.

      ----------------------------------------------------------//

So, here's a picture of the whole thing semi-assembled.

As you can see, it was a little high the way I mounted it.

There's a pretty significant gap between the bottom of the projector slot and the bottom of the projector.

The top of the projector's lens doesn't even clear the top of the projector slot.

      ----------------------------------------------------------//

I'll post another reply here in a short bit. I just wanted to do this in sections since I have a lot of pictures and information because I haven't posted in a while.

Just another reply with some more pictures and tidbits of information!

        ----------------------------------------------------------//

Good news! I was pleasantly surprised on November 30th with a DDM Tuning 6000K HID kit! It took exactly 13 days to deliver, so I was pretty stoked!

As you can see, there wasn't any fancy packaging; just a bunch of little white boxes and a couple bundles of cables, all packed inside a plain brown box.

This just shows everything that was inside the shipping box.

        6000K bulbs!

        Ballasts!

        ----------------------------------------------------------//

So, that was just the DDM Tuning HID kit unboxing (in a sense). More pictures to come!

Just a few more pictures here.

          ----------------------------------------------------------//

It was a pain in the butt to heatgun my housing open every time I test fitted the Morimoto, so I took out (most of) the cheap sealant they use.

This is after I fine-tuned the projector mount for the Morimoto projector.

          ----------------------------------------------------------//

The only thing that was wrong at the time with the Morimoto fitment is it was too far back inside the housing, so I had to put a couple 1mm spacers between the lens and the reflector bowl of the Morimoto, and this is how I did it.

          ----------------------------------------------------------//

These are the spacers (metal washers) I used (1mm thickness). You can get them for really cheap at any hardware store (I got mine at Menards, but that's only in Wisconsin).

This is with the lens off of the reflector bowl. There's just four screws to take out.

Finished product with spacers - use as a visual reference
          Example 1

          Example 2

One of the things I had to do to make the Morimoto more or less flush with the housing's projector slot is to put spacers on the reflector bowl (I made them with DAP silicone that you can get at any auto parts store).
          Top-down view

          Left side

          Right side

This is what it's supposed to look like when it's inside its mount.
          Front view

          Side view (1)

          Side view (2)

          Side view (3)

This is a top-down view of roughly how far the Morimoto should be from its mount.

This just shows the bottom of the Morimoto is level with its mount.

          ----------------------------------------------------------//

I've pretty much finished this whole process. I just need to permanently mount the Morimoto projector to its respective mount using a plastic welder.

Before you seal it up check the focus on the beams, since you spaced out the lens from the reflector bowl you might find that the cutoff isn't too focused anymore and the cutoff line from it isn't sharp. Not sure if the amount you spaced it out would be that significant though

Roger that. All the washers will do is give the cutoff a little more color, which I think is cool. In the end, what I think it's pretty much going to be like is the color flicker mod for the Morimoto Mini H1 4.1's, just on a 6.0 lol.

Re: ** INSIDE of Eagle Eyes Projector Headlight **

Hello again! I got all of the wiring done today, so I thought I'd post some pictures of what I did.

                ----------------------------------------------------------//

The first thing I did today was, obviously, install the wiring harness back into the housing. This rubber grommet that hosts both the low and high beam wires was a little difficult to maneuver in, but I got it eventually.

Make sure the grommet is properly seated.

Next what I did was splice the Morimoto's cutoff shield selenoid to the high beam wires.
I used these quick splice connectors.

Make sure all of the wires are routed properly.

The high beam wires should sit underneath the ball joint closest to the projector.

This is the ball joint I'm talking about.

After they're all routed, pull the low and high beam wires through their respective holes for organization sake.

I thought if I was going to use the quick splice connectors to splice the Morimoto selenoid into the high beam wires, I didn't need the pins that came pre-attached to the selenoid's wires.

They're all connected, ready to go! I tested this circuit out with a 9V battery and it works like a charm!

I put the high beam bowl back in. Make sure to plug the ground wire back into its respective bracket.

Make sure that there is still plastic wrap covering it.

I also put the blinker/DRL piece back on the housing. Make sure you wrap this in plastic wrap!

Everything is all plugged in, ready to go... at least thus far.

These wires are what the old CCFL halos plugged into, so they're what the new LED halos will plug into!

I didn't want to route them through the hole in front of the housing that the old CCFL halos used, so I used the two holes shown below. They're covered by some sort of material.

                Clever, huh?

Well, moving onto the halos themselves... The quick splice connectors didn't support the size gauge wire that the halos used, so I decided to use solder. These plugs are what already come on the wires of the halos I purchased.

                Chop, chop muddaflocka!

                ATTENTION:
MAKE SURE TO WIRE THESE IN PARALLEL , NOT SERIES, OTHERWISE THEY WON'T RECEIVE THE PROPER VOLTAGE TO WORK AT THEIR FULL POTENTIAL!!!

If you are doing this halo upgrade to your Eagle Eyes, feel free to ask me any questions about how to wire them in parallel. It's very simple.

Well, here they are folks! They're running off a 9V battery, and HOLY MAN they're BRIGHT!

Another view. I'm in LOVE with these!

                Side view

                ----------------------------------------------------------//

I'm glad these are finally starting to come together. It's been a long process so far, but I think it'll be worth it in the long run. If anyone has any questions, feel free to speak up!

Yeah, the LED halos were an excellent decision.

Just so everyone (who cares) knows, I will be testing this housing out in my car either tonight or tomorrow night. I think they're gonna look great!

Re: ** INSIDE of Eagle Eyes Projector Headlight **

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't updated this thread in almost a week. I've been really busy with school and life, and my birthday was this past Sunday, so I've had a crap ton of things to do.

Anyway, to the meat and potatoes...

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

The next thing I wanted to do to move on with this project is wire the halos to the housing's harness. The thing I didn't want to do is permanently wire them up (i.e., with solder), so I bought these crimp-on quick disconnects.

On the wires that come from the harness that connected to the old CCFL halos, there are connectors. I chopped them off so I could install the quick disconnects.

Here they are, all crimped on, shrink-tubed, etc.

Well, I soon after found that I couldn't fit them through their respective holes in the housing, so I un-crimped the quick disconnects, fed the wires through their holes, and re-crimped the quick disconnects on.

                          All shrink-tubed, ready to go

I attached the other end of the quick disconnects onto the ends of the halo wires.

In the process, I soon realized there's a huge gap between the high beam reflector bowl and its respective slot.

                          Another view

I added three 1mm steel washers to each bolt holding the reflector onto its bracket and it's better, for the most part.

What I did next was seal the hole up from where the old CCFL halo inverter wires came out of the housing. To do that, what I bought was plastic welder from AutoZone.

I tried sealing the hole up using just the welder, but it didn't work out very well, so I slapped a metal bracket on there.

Fits perfectly over the hole! (bottom view)

I had this kit from Walmart laying around, so I just used the bracket from it to seal that hole up.

Just put some more welder on to seal up any spots I might have missed.

I did the same with the bottom.

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

Here are a couple pictures of how the headlight has come along so far.

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

                          Head on

                          ----------------------------------------------------------//

I should be all set to go on these halos (and the headlight in general)! They look amazing and will look great on the car (in my opinion).
Right now, I'm in the process of doing prep work for testing out the projectors and the DDM Tuning HID kit system on my car. Stay tuned for that stuff!

UPDATE: I found a length issue after I put the HID bulb inside the Morimoto. The length of the bulb is too long to fit after the dust cap is put on. I have to come up with a different way to mount the projector to its respective bracket. Stay tuned!

UPDATE: I found a way to mount the projector so it almost sits flush with its respective slot. I was then able to get a portion of the HID system associated with the housing. Let's just say that all I have to do from this point forward is test the housing out on my car, permanently mount the projector to its respective bracket, seal the housing up, and get ready to do the passenger side housing. Stay tuned!

Re: ** INSIDE of Eagle Eyes Projector Headlight **

Hey guys! Happy (belated) holidays! I apologize I haven't posted in two weeks, but I was extremely busy with finals. Also, I took a five-day vacation to the Tampa area of Florida (my girlfriend's mom owns a condo there).

Anyways, I got a crap ton of stuff done with this headlight. It's not fully together yet, but it's almost to that point.

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

The next thing I decided to do with these things is to implement the HID system. Here's a shot of the housing's bulb plugin and the rear of the Morimoto.

Here's the part of the HID system that goes into the housing.

The two cords that have the prongs coming from the HID system go into the housing's bulb plugin.

I took the hex nut off of the Morimoto to cut extra few grams of weight off that won't be used lol.

To make it a little easier to put the HID bulb inside the Morimoto, I took the tension clip out.

It'll take quite a bit of force to get the HID bulb clipped in. Just keep in mind it's a REALLY strong paperclip, so it won't break.

This is a side view of the HID bulb inside the Morimoto. It'll clear the dust cover perfectly!

In order to get the HID to go through the dust cover, I had to Dremel a hole big enough for the rubber seal to fit. A picture is worth a thousand words, so here you go.

Backside view; sits perfectly! If anyone wants measurements on the size of the hole I had to make, just reply to this thread and ask away!

                                Fits perfectly inside the housing!

Here's how the housing looks at this point. I'm in absolute LOVE with these.

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

I sat here for a good hour or two thinking of a way to get the Morimoto more flush with its respective slot. What I found I could do was take the high beam/projector mount out of their respective ball joints and put some 1mm washers behind the ball joints.

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

Here are the two ball joints.

                                Low beam ball joint

                                High beam ball joint

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

What you should see here is they're just screwed into the housing, so what I did was took them out, put eight 1mm washers behind the low beam ball joint, and put I think five or six 1mm washers behind the high beam ball joint.

Well, here it is thus far!

                                The spacing is almost perfect!

Another look at the whole piece

What I did to push the projector forward a little more was take it out of its respective ball joint and put some washers behind its ball joint socket, as shown below. I think I put three or four 1mm washers in there.

                                The spacing is perfect!

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

I got to a point where I thought it was worthwhile to test these housings out. I apologize, I didn't do a good job with documenting this moment, but I'll just say I'm more than happy with how these have come along.
Also, while I was testing these out, I thought I'd install my fog light HIDs. I'm more than impressed with those as well.

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

This is a comparison of the DDM Tuning 3000K HID vs the halogen light I had installed previously. I swear the HID is at least three or four times brighter than the halogen.

This is a shot of the Morimoto's performance with a DDM Tuning 6000K bulb. Notice the scatters of light to the top left and top right of the cutoff. Don't be worried, they're light from the halos.

This is just a quick comparison shot of the HID fog lights and the halogen low beams. The low beams run Sylvania zXe bulbs (REALLY good bulbs in the halogen world).

What I did next was permanently mount the Morimotos to the its respective bracket in the housing using plastic welder, which has STRONG fumes by the way.

                                Overall

                                ----------------------------------------------------------//

Let me know what you guys think so far! I'm, personally, in love with these things.
