Re: Hello brembo brothers. lets talk pads

Not usually a huge fan of EBCs, they have good initial bite but then they get weak. Hawks are decent, like JJT said HPS and HP+ are some nice pads. I like my OEM brembo pads though, compound is Ferodo HP1000/1, same as the CTS-V and some Ferraris, they have great braking power on dont lose it once they start to heat up.

Re: Hello brembo brothers. lets talk pads

I've been going over 20,000 miles strong with my disc italias. They're pricey though, even for the brembo calipers mod. The problem I have with them is the kind I got, the titaninum kevlar pads, gets a little noisy if you don't put enough pressure on the brake pedal. Plus cleaning my black OZ's are a real pain. Perhaps I'll switch to the ceramic pads next time the pads need replacing.

Slotted and Drilled rotors on Brembo's? - does this combination work good? - I've noticed my stopping power is getting bad lately, I checked my pads and they aren't even half way worn. I think the R1Concepts Eline Series probably wasn't the best bet originally for the amount of harsh stopping I have to endure on Garden State and I-80 at rush hour leave NYC (freaking morons break in the freaking highway late). in any regard I think I'm getting Brembo's up-front and purchasing a front set of the Premium Series rotors from R1.

Anyone have some idea's for good brake line fluid over stock fluid? - brakes lines well I know one place that sell steel-braided lines (LOL)....

Steel braided lines are for appearance not performance.

Not really no one does. Brake fluid should be done every year. It absorbs moisture and rusts your brake lines from the inside. Plus the moisture will lower the boiling point and increase brake fade.

so I bought the car in Feb of 2009 and it's never been changed, I'm going to speculate that it's a bit over due?

Not entirely true. The lines are firmer so they expand less under hard braking. In the hd sportster world a lot of guys go to braided lines to firm up brake lever pull.

In our application the performance gains are negligible. They're more for looks. There are other problems here that should be dealt with first.

so braided brake lines really do nothing?

let me ask this, if I'm going to bleed my brake fluid and replace it with ATe Super Blue, does it make sense to replace the lines with the ones from BMD at the same time?

Well if you want them for looks do it, but performance not really. Just flush it out with sone DOT3 or take it to a shop.
