  • 'Indexing' ?

I have a GXP Coupe, and the Owners Manual says the windows have 'Indexing', which it does. What is the reason for this ?

SO that you don't break the window when you open and close the door.

In days of yore, frameless door windows used to just push up against weather stripping. There are several problems with that design, mainly when the weather stripping gets old, it doesn't form as tight of a seal and water can easily get in. Another major problem is the ease at which you can stick something like a coat hanger or screwdriver in between the window, making it a bit easier to unlock a locked car. With indexing the window goes up into a trench seal, like on a framed door window. The only drawback comes when the battery is dead or unplugged with the window being all the way up.
