How can people not figure out neutral? Car won't stop accelerating, easy slap the shifter forward and turn the key off. Coast to safety.

If you read the comments posted by the news company, they mention that he tried turning the car off and moving the shifter, neither worked. Hence why you should just buy a manual instead of an automatic. But I guess even those are computerized with hydraulic pumps... better yet get an older car that still has a cable driven throttle and either direct or cable shifted manual transmission.

Or you can wire up a kill switch on the signal wire that goes to the fuel injectors..

Either way the clutch is not coputerized. Hydraulic pump doesn't mean that its computerized. or you could just rip it out of gear. that is physically linked to the tranny.

Re: What was Lampoon doing in Colorado???

Why can't Darwin win for once with these idiots.

TURN THE KEY OFF and hit the brakes. If you have a physical key, and take the key out of the "run" position then power to the PCM will die and you will be left with a car that eventually will coast to a stop on its own due to engine drag. Then use the brakes with the vacuum left in the system to stop the car.

It works on my G6, it works on my TransAm GTA, it worked on my 99' Kia Sephia, and it worked on my 93' Ford Escort as well. It also works on my friends 06' G6 GT A4.

Idk about you, but my G6 won't release my key if the transmission isn't in park.. From every incident I've seen like this, the driver has tried everything suggested by both the police, and the manufacturer (through 911 dispatch). I'm still saying installing a kill switch to cut the power or ground to the battery would do the trick.

You don't need to remove the key from the ignition, that would lock the steering column and THAT is bad. Just click it to "ACC" which is 1 click counter clock-wise. This shuts down power to the PCM. No PCM power, no ignition. Its that simple in the G6. As long as the key is not in "LOCK" then the steering column and shifter will remain unlocked.
