first off this is NOT a recall. what this is is a Special Policy. what that means is that GM has put an extra warrenty on the steering system. so in order for your car to have anything done to it it has to be experiencing the problem.
as far as the vehicles covered this covers
CERTAIN 2005-2006 Chevrolet Malibu, Malibu Maxx
not all vehicles made those years will be effected so youll have to contact your dealer to find out for sure if yours is or not
the condititon that is covered by this policy is
Some customers may experience a loss of power steering assist caused by electrical input signals within the steering column assembly. If the power steering assist is lost, a chime will be heard and the Driver Information Center will display a "Power Steering" warning message. On some vehicles, the Service Vehicle Soon light will also illuminate. The vehicle can still be steered in a safe manner but will require greater driver effort at low vehicle speeds or when stopped.
and finaly This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.
