so get rid of the weak stuff and put in what should be there and i will put down close to 500rwhp

He's probably talking about the dod package delete which is basically a whole new valvetrain.

^but even so on the dyno the car will be under extreme load so the DOD shouldn't be kicked in-all 8 cylinders should be ripping away! That being said I wouldn't think the hp would change that much because 8 cylinders is 8 cylinders

yes that true, but it does not let the heads flow like they should. the cam is grinded to let only certain cylinders flow at certain times the weak point is the lifters. they collapse quite often.
and woodburyman, they do make dod cams so you can keep dod but they are not that aggressive and they dont really replace the problem, the lifters.
you can only have so much lift and lobe with the stock cam and only flow so much on the intake and exhaust side.
so crimson, with the cam package, i should be near 460-500rwhp, pending supporting mods.

Re: Just ordered Kooks 1 7/8 longtube headers

you do. the kit is 1499. gets rid of dod. with headers, intake and tune, you will be around 460-480 rwhp. its that simple. now slap on a supercharger, and you will be over 600 rwhp conservative before your tranny and axle shafts break.

those racing shafts are close to 3500 and the tranny is very expensive unless you get australian parts(even more money)

Re: Just ordered Kooks 1 7/8 longtube headers

dynoed car today. car made 323-353 if i remember correctly. but the engine temps are too high, like around 212. they are too high to advance timing or tunuing it further. so i will be getting a 160 thermostat and installing it so we can tune it to the full potential. car sounds much deeper and meaner now. im happy so far

a little tweaking and tuning off the maf and the car is now finsihed. 343-356 were the best we acheived before this last imp[rovement.
im still waiting on dyno time. a fully built procharged challenger and a fully built heads and cammed z06 are in my way at the moment.

without forged internals when you hit that 500 hp mark your risking it Bigtime.

Meant to ask and in looking back I see I forgot....did you drop an O/R X pipe on there when you did the LT's?

Re: Just ordered Kooks 1 7/8 longtube headers

i had an x-pipe installed before the headers.
but i have cats installed after the headers. then that runs into the x-pipe which then goes to the mufflers.

i have done alot of research and looked into what our motor can do. with just a cam and a supercharger, we can easily sustain 600rwhp at the motor(our tranny and drive shafts break easily, but when people run slicks and race at the track. with street tires they spin, so they dont break that much). but we run out of fuel at 500rwhp. so we will need a fuel system upgrade.
realistically after a cam and heads(which is what i want to do as well as my shop), which will net me close to 500rwhp, i think i will be done. After all this is my daily driver and i need it to be reliable.
i cant see spending close to 20,000 to get a supercharger and all the supporting parts(drive shaft, axle shafts, transmission, etc) on a daily driver.
