  • Keeping a waxed black car clean

So I just waxed my g6 and I used the meguiers tech 2 wax and I like it but it almost seems like dust sticks right to my car. Not sure where to go from here. I know having a black car is a pain some times but theres gotta be something easier lol Any input would be great thanks

i use the meguires black box

your GOING to see dust against the black, thats just the nature of the beast unfortunately
my advice.... keep a shammy handy at all times!

Shammy Huh are you talking about like a micro fiber or like the leather shammy.... I know dust will show I just thought maybe it was because of the tech 2 wax lol

Re: Keeping a waxed black car clean

surprisingly my car doesn't look too bad for a while after a good wash/wax. it does collect the dust and very noticeable bugs but still doesn't look that bad or noticeable to other people

          i have a leather shammy
they're a lil expensive (12/sq ft for mine)
but they're a LOT easier on the paint
im sure a mircrofiber would be fine tho

the tech wax is good stuff
thats what i used before i tried the blackbox
(its waxes designed SPECIFICALLY for black cars)

make sure your buffing all of the wax off and the polishing the rest off with a clean shammy/finishingcloth/microfiber (i'd recommend one of the first two)

heres my car after a good night of waxing
(there is dew on the rear, thats why it looks duller)

if you havent tried it out yet mark you should
the wax is black pigmented so it fills any minor surface scratches
                      (caused by washing)

its like a 3 step system... takes a little bit more time
but i think the end product is well worth it!

Yeah, once I get my hood and front replaced I'll start caring again. right now, not too worried about it.

Re: Keeping a waxed black car clean

I have a Carbon Black Metalic G6 GXP and a Candy Apple Brandywine Vette, I use Zaino products exclusivly. They have a synthetic carbuna wax for many years now and they also have an anti-static ingrediant so you get less dust build up. If you think your car is bad, try getting dust on a fiberglass body. It's like a dust magnet. The Zaino products are not cheap but the quality and duration and wet look is incredible. Take a look at their web site and you can get the whole story. Just remember, if you use the Zaino wax, you need to wash the car with DAWN (first time only) to remove any existing wax before applying and Zaino product. It was originally made for Corvettes but is now used on most high end cars. Looky here:

Do an internet search on Zaino and you'll get a million hits but remember wax is subjestive. Everyone has their own opinion. I swear by it.

The paint job on my Vette is 30 years old and I still get Best Paint In show trophies!!!

my dad used to use the ultimate package or w/e on his viper
                              kept the paint MINT
and the shine would last for 2 weeks or more before BEGINING to dull
didnt know about the antistatic... thats pretty neat

                              but yes, they're KILLER EXPENSIVE
i think my dad paid like $120? for the ultimate
