    Re: 2007 GM 3.5L V6 VVT ( LZ4 )

Alright I was directed to this... Not a 100% answer but my interpretation.

If they really searched it out, they would see it. But their is no simple way to do it, so they will have to search pretty thoroughly into the cars pcm to see it.

I think that we have G6s, we might get away with it.

The "newest" PCM I tuned was out of a truck, 2002 version so it had twice the flashable space. I used it . I don't think there were any "clocks" in it. Like something that says "this PCM has 3,000 hours on it but the BCM has 12,000 hours on it" or something similar. What is to prevent us from buying a second PCM for tuning and swapping in the original PCM for warranty work?

and that my friends seems pretty brilliant.

Question is... what kind of costs are we looking at with that?

EDIT: $100-150 on the lower side if Malibu PCMs work, which I assume they would.

Yeah, I'm not sure what year does what. I think 2007s would still have a pretty basic PCM, just different than the non-VVT cars. I'm not sure though. I used a 2002 PCM on my 99 Silverado because it was 10x better than the antique in my truck... but I needed a PCM designed for use with a throttle cable. I only paid $125 for my truck PCM.

              Re: 2007 GM 3.5L V6 VVT ( LZ4 )

Other than different tuning for E85 (LZE) does anyone know why GM has so many hp/tq ratings for the 3.5L V6 VVT motor depending on what car it's used in? Also, why has the hp/tq ratings changed between 2007, 2008, 2009?

2008 the way SAE rated horsepower changed, so the car power is actually the same just more accurate.

Any idea what exactly changed in the SAE dyno test that would make the hp/tq ratings different?

I thought in 2007 the engines became SAE certified. Then in 2008 they actually de-tuned the engine a bit to better match the transmission's torque handling capability.

Speaking of an earlier comment, I tried my buddy's 08 G5 stick twice and won both times. I get a car length at the start and none of us can get either pull ahead. From a roll if he gets a slight jump on me, he can pass me but it's close.
