  • Engine shutting off

    Every once and a while my engine will shut off by itself (when its in gear) when im stopped. I've taken it into the dealership and they can't find the problem.

    Has anyone else had this happen?

    wow, that sux. I do not have this happening but i would think a code would have been thrown? No check engine light?

      Nope, it just dies. Shuts right off

            My last car('99 GA GT), used to do that 'engine shut-off' thing on occasion. A couple of times that happened on the highway. That's scary s@#t.

              I had the same exact thing happen to me that you are describing for an 04 cavalier 2 months ago. It ended up being the ignition coil. The engine would studder when i was stopped and eventually die.

                Nope, haven't had anything like that yet. I do get a little scared sometimes because of the rough idle thing but it's never quit on me altogether.

                    Sounds pretty dangerous to me. Get it fixed ASAP.

                      Also, I forgot to mention that sometimes when i crank it and let go of the key it will hesitate to start.

                        ^^ I believe that is a common problem, also i think there is a tsb to correct this...

                          You mean it will continue to crank until it starts? That comes standard with the G6.
