Wow this is just what I was looking for, but its pretty darn expensive. Do you think it will go down in price over a couple of months? And how easy do you think it is to install this type of thing?
I found one for cheaper on ebay. about $130 with shipping. Relitivly good deal if your looking for that exceptional sound system and can deal with the stock set-up. Search:
I dont know what to do either. I can only hope for the price to come down from here. Still as of now its a reasonalbe price. PLEASE if anyone buys this let me know, I really want to get the good the bad and the ugly.
Just a heads up on removing the stock stereo/information center,...... Just from what I have heard, GM cars in general do no like to have the Information center removed. If you buy that part for $200.00 you should be in the clear. I have heard from several people that removing the stereo/information center and just putting in an aftermarket stereo, and leaving the Information center disconnected has caused problems with the car starting. Once again, I have not experienced this myself, but from what I am hearing is that everytime you start the car, you have to hold the key for like at least 5 seconds or something like that, or it will not start. Kind of acts like there is a dead battery. Just a heads up for anyone looking to do something like this.
I just bought and installed the Sirius Sportster Replay in my coupe and I love it, I figured I'd just do that instead of hassling with all the DIC and everything else.

I'd actually be happy with my stock single CD stereo if it played MP3 CDs. I can't believe they would integrate the DIC into the stereo and yet fail to make it MP3 compatible. What century are we living in? And GM wonders why they are losing an ever increasing market share to the Japanese.
Does the CD-Changer version play MP3 CDs??? If so, I might have to start calling some junk yards.

It is a hefty price, but think what you're getting...it's not just a brace for a new deck, it includes the tech for the DIC, something I'm sure isn't a piece of cake to get. Anyway, thanks for the link. I've been looking for something like this, now I can hook my Pioneer DEH-P9600MP from my old car into my G6!
the thing is, does that new plate connect specifically for the g6 harness for the DIC or do you have to be splicing and all that fun stuff? If it was plug and play I could see the price being justified, if not then I don't think its worth it.
