  • Messed up my k&n filter?

Hi, hopefully someone answers this. I bought my CRAB intake back in 2014 for my 09 3.5L gt.
I wanted to clean my k&n cone filter (RU-3580) that came with my CRAB intake so I got a compressed air and started blasting through the filter. Did I do a lot of damage to it? I did not specifically pointed the air to the filter but instead kinda just ran it through in passes. I also blew it from the inside. Did I mess up my filter this way? It's only a couple years old and it has only been used during the summer.
Oh and on the plus side, I finally removed that damn resonator out. Was a pain the arse to remove but finally got it out.
    Thanks for the input

Should not have damaged it at all. I've done it to mine several times. Think about the velocity of the air that gets sucked in through the filter by the engine.

Just about every used car lot in the country does the exact same thing. I wouldn't worry too much.

Lol, ppl do this to paper filters all the time. It's just that for a K&N you don't have to do that, there is a cleaner then you rinse it, then let it dry and re apply the oil. That's the proper way. But your way should do the trick just fine. However I would still look into "recharging" it. It helps keep it in good shape

I would recommand the recharge kit or the cleaning kit for it which is from k&n it allows you to be able to wash and re oil . I have never use the kit on a k&N filter but I do unit the K&N cleaning kit on my 1/5 scale baja air filters.
