Changing the color of my instrument panel lights?!
Okay my brother gave me a great idea to change all my interior lights! (All the guages on the instrument panel, all the radio lights, and the gear shift light panel) I'm not sure if I want to do the dome lights or floorboa lights because I do a lot of night driving so I would like to see! I want to do them pink! Just wanted to know if anyone has tackled this task? Can it be done? Is it extremely challenging? Time and cost of the project aren't a factor, I just want to know if its possible or am I just dreaming? I have a 2008 g6. It's black and all the lights are red.

there is a how to somewhere of someone that changed theirs to blue IIRC. It was apparently a TON of work, but looked pretty cool ?sigpic

I know that. But I want them pink because of the other things I would like to do to the interior that will be pink also and I don't want it to not match. I have thought about just leaving it red and "decorate" around the red. But I just don't think I will be as happy.Comment

well.. pink LEDs are not super easy to find. Since they are soo close to red most of the time they are not offered. There is a how-to, probably the link above, that ought to outline the procedure with the variety and number of leds needed.
There is a lot of work involved, and there are MANY MANY leds to change out, and lots of trouble shooting along the way.. however, if you don't want to tackle this on your own, you could always contact black cat customs and see if they wouuld be willing tho help you along with the dash at least.
I've changed out the LEDs on the instrument cluster for another member.. and it was a complete PITA. It would be on my list of things not to do again, but everyone has different wants/needs.
I can try to help the best I can, but its not something i recommend.

Thanks. I did find a how to. My brother has all the tools to do it. I want the switch out the radio LEDs also. I want to paint the AC vents to pink too. I want it all pink! But yeah I understand pink is close to red. I have found some pink LEDs on eBay. Pretty cheap too I just don't want it half assed and I'm just afraid that if my brother starts it and its too much of a pain that he won't want to finish the rest. Then if be pretty pissed haha!Comment

rinky dinky home soldering irons will not suffice for the SMDs on some of the circuit boards.. they are too cumbersome
superbrightled has many of the dashboard leds too

I bought on ebay what I thought should have been pink LEDs for my gf's car. Even the bottom was pink but when they lighted up purple.
