  • Front bumper license plate holder

I just registered my car in Connecticut where they want me to ruin the front of my car by putting a license plate on the bumper. My car never came with a holder when I bought it in Florida. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a better solution than drilling holes in my bumper to mount it.
Just started modifications but seem to be coming up with ideas faster than I have time to firgure out which one sucks and which is cool.

    Apperance Mods:
window tint, red calipers, chrome grill, Hide the Plate Mount, black headlights & custom pedals
    Performance Mods:
    Crabs Intake, Intake Resonator Delete

I had to put my front plate on as California is one of the few states that require one. so I used some sheet metal I had laying around to make some brackets. then I mounted the plate down low on the lower grill in the middle. no holes in my bumper. you can use L brackets to do the same thing. if you want I can take pics.

Mods- VMS ECM/TCM Tune, Custom Magnaflow Cat Back, Full CRAB Intake, Racing Line Motor Mounts and Strut Tower Brace. Tinted Windows & Tails. EBC USR Rotors Front and Rear running YellowStuff Pads

itsevoo, I think I will get that hide-the-plate thing. When my front bumper was repainted I saw the car before they mounted the front plate back on. It looked great. Once went to a car show where a guy had "Y2PLTS" as his license plate.

Re: Front bumper license plate holder

Depending on the style bumper you have be careful of the placement. I ended up leaving the god awful plate because there is no good place to mount it in the gxp down low. The left grill is intake for the intake and the middle/right grill is intake for the radiator and so I did not want to cut any of them off with a plate in the way. I dont think I have any other options

actually none of the grilles go to the intake its actually all completely closed off in the fenderwell with no oppening of any sort to outside air, all the grills direct air towards the radiator

Re: Front bumper license plate holder

wow, I had just assumed it worked that way when I saw the tube shoot down there. I just checked though and you are right. So at the end of the day my "CAI" is still pulling in hot air from the engine bay? That sucks! I guess I could cut a hole behind the right grill and put in a tube with a drip for water in the back that leads to the intake tube. Perhaps thats what the tiger intake is all about? I wonder if it is worth the mod for the outcome.

Re: Front bumper license plate holder

i cut out an opening in the pass side lower grill delfector with my dremel to allow air to flow into the fender well and it droped my intake temps a LOT down to withing 1* of the outside air temp while moving.......

that looks awesome man, wish there was a good answer for the gxp bumper. I hate having it right in front of the upper grills looks just horrible. I would also have to bondo the holes if I removed it too. I think someone said they use huge rivets
