  • Struts for Lowerd Cars?

So this came up today when I was considering lowering my car with Eibach springs. Are there struts/shocks out there that are better for/designed for lowered cars? I have 70k miles on my shocks and I just don't want to install lowering springs and totally destroy them and have to buy new ones real soon. Instead I'd rather buy new shocks that would hold up better and install them at the same time as my springs and save some money and headaches. If there is no such thing, then I may consider saving up for coilovers or whatever Bryant may have cooking up with some adjustable stuff.

I just want to do things right and I don't have enough income to do something twice. Thanks for your help.

Koni Yellows theyre supposed to be good for up to a 1.5" drop, plus theyre adjustable. Also have a lifetime warrantly so if they ever blow just send them in for replacement.

Theyre from a Saab 9-3. I originally thought the rears had eyes on both ends and would need a bracket, but after looking into it more they should bolt right up without it. I have a feeling the fronts should be fine as well, if not then youd probably just need the top strut mount from the 9-3 as well.

Bryant, you're awesome. Thank you very much.

Wondering if these are them even though the description doesn't mention the word "yellow" anywhere:

Looks like it! As long as they are for an 03-07 9-3 you should be good. Probably wont say Koni yellow, technically I think theyre called Koni sports now, but google Koni yellows and youll realize theyre the same thing. Shop around though if youre going to buy them, Ive seen them a little over $600 shipped for a whole set before. and if youre strapped for cash right now just pick up the rear ones first, as theyll make a bigger difference, and then pick up the fronts at a later point. if you beat me to the picking up a set of konis though i might be a little jealous

Unless you can find a better price than summitracing.com on those Koni "yellow" struts, you should consider Megan Racing coil overs http://www.meganracing.com/product_d...id=16&catid=29
These are likely to be a better fit, better quality and you should be able to upgrade all four corners for under $900

More than likely fit the same since theyre both from a 9-3. As for quailty, reviews of Megans tend to not be that great. Rebound damping on them is less than stock at some points, and the adjustable compression damping is way too high and unecessary. Just gonna be a rough ride.

iirc the warranty on Megans is 1 year. Eibach has a million mile warranty and is pretty much one of the best spring manufacturers. Konis has a lifetime warranty and is one of the worlds leading damper manufacturers. Pretty much with a set of eibachs and konis you would be covered under warranty for long after your car lasted. Just my .02 cents, as youd never have to pay for your suspension again lol

                    Re: Struts for Lowerd Cars?

interesting. Well I just acquired the Eibach Pro kit for $50.

A guy that I meet yesterday as I got my suspension replaced with Monroe's all the way around, he just put the Megan Coilovers (his camber was bad is was -3.9 in the rears took them 3 hours to fix it on the HawkEye system) in his 2008 Accord well apparently before his accord he traded in his 2006 G6 V6 for the accord and still has the Eibach Pro kit and 18 inch Solice rim in storage (still in plastic) he's basically giving them to me, he has no need anymore.

He loves my car his was black as-well, but his car is pretty sick now too. He has a custom dual magnaflow but his accord is only a 2.4.

Would the same struts fit my 06 gt? I also have a set of eibachi's laying around that never got installed

You mean the Koni's? If so they should fit fine, all 6s have the same suspension pretty much, same as the 9-3, so I dont see why not
