  • Brembo brakes with better rotors?

So I'm about to buy just the brembo brakes upgrade but looking to get a better rotor. I can already tell my rotors are starting to get warped...only after 65k miles...not bad for the driving i put it thru haha. Anyway does any one have suggestions on the brand, size and specific characteristics (slotted/drilled) that i should get? thanks!

You know that you need new rotors anyways, right? The Brembos will need a different size than the stock brakes. That said, just some plain old rotors will be fine.

This. I would however recommend that you make sure they are vented. These puppies get really hot and mine start to squeal everytime they get hot.

Be aware that you will need all new rotors around and also the brake line for the rears are different than the ones we have on our cars, so you will need a new brake line also.

right i was aware that i needed to rotors. I was wondering what rotors would fit the Brembos, but better than the Cobalt SS rotors, that you would recommend? Sorry if i confused you, does that make sense?

The stock rotors for the ss seem to be great, but any upgraded rotor for the ss will do.

Re: Brembo brakes with better rotors?

Congratulations on stepping up to Brembo calipers! Like the previous posts be sure to select rotors made for Cobalt SS/TC. When I installed my Brembos I used EBC Sport Rotors 12.4" Dimpled & Slotted. part number GD7507 They are not cheap but they are by far the BEST. R1 concepts are the other popular rotors but no comparison to EBC IMHO

Congrats on the Brembos I'm envious Do you have wheels that will fit over them? Is 45mm the minimum offset?

Re: Brembo brakes with better rotors?

I have 18" painted aluminum stock Pontiac wheels. After reading a few threads I discovered that I needed a wheel spacer for the larger calipers to clear, minimum 5mm width. For this I purchased Eibach 5mm hub-centric wheel spacers. Its very important to buy quality wheel spacers and its best not to buy a wider depth than what's needed. If you buy too wide you can put extra stress on your lugs and if you use low-quality or lug-centric spacers they can position themselves slightly off center and cause shimmy after awhile.
