  • so what can new heads/manifolds do at the track........?

    ran the 1/8 mile in 10.08 @ 70.72mph.

Considering my fastest time from before the swap was a 10.24, I'd say a 10.08 is a pretty dang good improvement. I'm still running my vector tune and haven't had a chance to get a proper dyno tune yet. Bottom end runs a little rich and the top end is just a hair towards the lean side. If I had a better gear ratio like 3.55 or 3.73's I could def hit mid to high 9's.

Hm... You have the 3.5 vvt if your car is a 2008. 2007 and up 3.5's are all vvt.

yes. My mpg went down a bit. BUT it is all due to the fact I can't stay out of the throttle! the high rpm power is amazing. At almost exactly 4200rpms it's like vtec has kicked. Its like a swift kick in the pants. When I can actually stay out of the throttle the mpg seems about 1/2 - 1 mpg higher. It will take a few weeks of driving for me to collect enough mpg data to actually determine if there are any actual mpg gains.

street tuning would improve MPG and you could fix the vtec feel since your powerband should be smooth with your mods. Dyno tuning is usually just WOT tuning, and you need it tuned for the street first.

If you are willing to learn, then yes! It isn't cheap but it would allow you to get the most from your setup. With a better dialed in setup, a dyno tune won't take as long either.

well a dyno tune is looking like a no go, unless I'm willing to drive up to michigan and see vector. Nobody around here works on FWD pontiacs/GM's (except cobalt). Its pretty much a ford town (mustang). The only place willing to work on it said that they would have to use HP tuner's to "dyno tune" my car. So I would be paying them, and paying for HP tuners at the same time. I talked to the GP GTP guys at the track and they all used HP tuners for their cars. (Which run low 8's) I just have no clue about hp tuners cause I've never tuned a car. Is it hard?
