    Re: Car hot issues.

You could do a manual fan switch. I would also recomend a coolent flush and clean That worked for me. My temp guage barely goes over half now if at all. It used to be around 225 all the time.

I flushed it twice with no change in temps. I tried to run water from the engine side to the outside to try and get rid of bugs or anything but there really no room to do it so I don't know how to clean out the front of the radiator good.

Changed out the thermostat and today was even hotter than the other days about 75 degrees. Other days where around 60 and I never saw temp go over 113 mostly ran at 200 202. Thanks for all the help guys

Depending on driving conditions, it may be prudent to flush and replace the Dexcool. One tell that it is time for replacement, is that you may be able to see in the coolant reservoir, that it has turned brown. Dexcool's change interval is 5 years or 150,000 miles in normal conditions. If green coolant has been added at any point, the interval is two years. Some claim that due to the bad reputation of Dexcool, that it is safer to flush and replace every two years or 30,000 miles.

Get rid of that Dexcool crap...
it will create a gritty paste if its molested. The green stuff is less temperamental.
Unless you have a perfect, textbook engine, dexcool will peform quite well.

Get the tried and tested green stuff....

I have been running Dexcool for 92,000 miles with no issue. then again I am one of the rare people who let their car warm up. I dont start and drive. I let the needle move just above 100ºF before I start driving. make sure everything is warmed up. I think that helps dramatically

Yeah I'm always letting my car warm up. At least 30sec-min warm up in the summer and winter is whenever the needle moves haha.

06 is out of warranty anyways.
also, i am using "green stuff" in my other cars as well with no ill effects. Maybe I am just lucky, maybe I am destroying my engine.
                    Only time will tell.
But I have ran like with this coolant since 09 with no problems.
Dunno why it will void my warranty if even the dealer, a GM dealer told me to change my coolant at my last warranty check and plan to use the "green stuff"
Anyway....unless the engine and all coolant passages needed that slurry and sand-ish liquid running.

Hey, just to be sure, run plain distilled water with some Watter-Wetter.....for testing sake. Read temps and use Dexcool or other compatible coolant.
