Re: Altered6 Progressions - Baer Cobalt 13" Brakes

I had some extra "Mad Money" and decided to finally customize my headlights. With no patients to do this particular job myself I contacted LightWerkz about color matching. I provided the paint code and they handled everything including a new pair of headlights from their supplier. I found LightWerkz to be very helpful and accommodating, quick and their work is excellent. The paint match is perfect and there are no visible signs that the lights have been disassembled and reassembled. One thing that I really appreciated in doing business with them was they only charged a $50.00 deposit until the headlights were completed and ready for shipping.

Oddly enough my drivers side headlight is finicky to remove and replace. I noticed signs of interference on this tab that fits under the fender. Trimmed a small amount of material off with Side Cutters. The extra wiggle room makes the process considerably more easy. The passenger side is a breeze without this same modification.

Discovered a sizable crack in the back of the drivers side headlight. I didn't get the angle right to show the daylight coming through it. Surprised the schmit out of me because it never caused any moisture issues.

        Better pics coming.

                Re: Altered6 Progressions

When I decided to purchase a G6, I immediately began searching for aftermarket wheels. I searched every where for a long time and came close to buying a few times always backing out in the end because I felt that I was settling for what was available rather than what I really wanted. I've always liked the G5 GT wheels but found it difficult to source a set locally and on the internet at a reasonable price. Also didn't want to go from my G6's chrome wheel covers to the GT's silver painted wheels, as I had silver aftermarket wheels on my last car and wanted a different look this time. Discovered LA Wheel on eBay. They specialise in chroming OEM wheels of all manufacturers. They said they could supply a set of G5 GT wheels and chrome them for a hair under $1600 plus shipping. Again, I came close to making the deal but realised that after dropping that kind of money I would still only have 7 inch wide wheels with a similar offset as my OEM steelies. Not worth it IMO. What I wanted was at least 8 inch wide wheels and preferably wider. At this point I briefly considered having the GT wheels widened but by the time it was all said and done we were talking about some silly money.

One day while perusing LA Wheels web site the light bulb flickered in my head. Wheel adapters... Did some research online, sent some emails before contacting LA Wheel once again. I chose C5 Corvette wheels that I've always liked and as luck would have would fit perfectly with wheel adapters. The problem this time was that modern Corvettes have differing sized wheels front to back and LA Wheel was unwilling to break up two sets to sell me four front wheels. I asked them if they were really turning away a paying customer. They never did reply to that email. Luckily a short time later I found another seller on eBay selling the exact same wheels in exactly the right size so I finally made the purchase and they have been collecting dust in the garage for the last year. A number of events have transpired in this time span and that's why I just recently ordered the wheel adapters and installed the wheels at long last.

Motorsport-Tech was first brought to my attention from another member on this forum, Aquier IIRC. Their web site is super user friendly, their products of the highest quality and their customer service is second to none. They are first class all the way.

Did you have to cut the studs from the hubs?

Sure did. Had to shorten the OEM studs to clear the back of the Corvette wheels. Dremel made quick work of them.
