  • Lighting Rear Window Switches

If you want the window switches on the back doors to light up this is how
(note they only light up when the back windows are unlocked)

first get some wire(speaker wire works) and cut 4 short pieces about 2-3 inches
The rear window switches already have the lights in them (you just have to hook them up)

and connect the wires like this in the diagram

It should look like this (i just pushed the wires down in the socket)

Then you will have a window switch that lights up

Enjoy if they don't light up try unlocking the windows cause they will only light up when the rear windows are unlocked.

when you take the switch out those are the letters that the connector says on it
connect A to B that is the positive
                and then H to C

                    Re: Lighting Rear Window Switches

i posted awhile back about this, and came to the conclusion, it was not gonna work, and I was afraid to short the whole car out, by tinkering with electrical things.

You are now my hero. Next day off I will be doing this for sure!

                    AJ

EDIT: Makes me wonder why GM would put lights in there, and not make them light up? Seems kinda assinine.

                      Re: Lighting Rear Window Switches

thats a little silly to have lights already there but to not light is ridiculous that could give us a 100 bucks cheaper of a car if they would't waste time putting in something that doesn't do anything.

only light up when the back windows are unlocked? That's a weird setup. I say it's over-engineering.

Nice hack! But yeah, it's weird that the lights would be in there but not the wiring.

Im guessing its that way, since it is my understanding that when the windows are locked out, no juice is going to them. So in order to have the lights and the switches work, you have to restore power to them by "unlocking" them from the drivers door switch. Definitely way over-engineered. GM at their finest for sure.
