  • Can you replace manual climate control w/automatic system?

Hey, my old Grand Prix had the automatic climate control system, and my G6 has only got the manual setup.

Is it possible to just swap one system for another or is the wiring behind the dash totally different?

depends how much money you have
    anythings possible with enough money

but is it easily or cheaply done no
you would need a new control head new wiring to all the temp sensors that you would also have to add on

Remember if "the" and "and" are spelled right its not a genuine Ahuhn post

Not worth the effort. This would be a really neat upgrade, but not worth the labor involved.

Do you know how many temp sensors there should be and where they need to go? It looks like on GMPD.com the following parts are listed..

          Ambient temp sensor, g6 07-08 $5.25 $3.11
          In-car sensor, g6 06-08 $8.24 $4.28
          Dash control unit, g6, w/atc 06-08 $374.76 $194.89

          = $202.28

If that's all that is needed, that seems like a feasible upgrade...

Re: Can you replace manual climate control w/automatic system?

            looks like 2 temp sensors
one in the upper vents and one in the lower vents

ambient temp sensor is the out side temp which you already have

dont forget those would have to be wired up to the control head and im not sure if the actuators or anything else is the same between the 2 systems. if you want to go ahead and try it ill be glad to help you as much as i can

                    For $300 I'd do it.

                    $500...not so much.

This has been covered dozens of times. It was established the amount of time, money, and labor did not justify the project.

I hope this isn't the start of an ugly trend - resurrecting threads for the sake of boosting one's post count.
FWIW I could care less on my post count. Next time I would appreciate a PM of accusations instead of a public call out.

Now that that's out in the air....

Time and Labor would not be a problem as I would not mind rewiring all of the sensors etc...I might attempt to tackle this project. I need to talk to a few contacts I have before trying this.

^^I think it would be a great upgrade. Let us know what you decide. Good luck!

                            You are right.

I was starving when I posted that...wasn't allowed to eat prior to blood work this morning. I think the hunger made me unusually irritable. No offense intended. Sorry dude.

Getting back to the original point of your post, IIRC, there was also discussion as to whether or not there are changes required in the BCM to work with the auto HVAC...which would obviously be something you'd have to look to a dealership for.

No worries here on my end. I did find that post mentioning that, but long after I posted this. It wasnt coming up when I was originally searching for this.

If I decide to do this I will keep people posted. No real need to keep this thread open any longer unless someone has new useful info.
