  • Help with photos on memory card

I went away this weekend with my wife to an aquarium. We took lots of photos, but when i tried to upload them into my photobucket, they werent there. Turned my camera on, and there they were. Tried again to upload them into photobucket......not there again. I dont understand why photobucket (and my computer) cant open these pictures. When i try with my computer to open them, it askes where i would like to open them from, internet or another progam. I did resent my camera to "factory specs" and now when i take a pic, they show up but the ones from the aquarium still dont. What so i have to do to open and upload these photos??

Why don't you upload them to your computer then upload them to Photobucket off your computer?

yea I always drag my pics from the card to the hard drive, then to photobucket from the hard drive.

Because my computer doesnt know what to open them with. All the other photos open just fine with the photo veiwer that is on here.

When i click on the file of the photo it says that it is a RAF file. No idea what that means.

Hmmm. That's odd. Maybe you can change the file type on the camera? When I put my card in the SD slot, I go into the Explorer and open the drive that has the card. The files are all JPEGs.

This is what a RAF file is:

Uncompressed RAW photograph taken with a Fuji digital camera, such as a high-end FinePix model; contains unprocessed image data; may also include a .JPG version of the same image within the file.

Try to download a pic to the desk top, then change the file name to state ".jpeg" at the end see if it'll convert to a jpeg image and open. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn;t.

OK my last quick idea, see if it'll open in notepad if it does then resave the file to jpeg.

Re: Help with photos on memory card

Your photos are in RAW format which means you need a RAW convertor to bring them out of raw and into a jpg.

Chances are you accidentally switched your camera to raw and didn't notice.

Windows won't see them as photos because RAW files are not native and you need a plugin OR the program to view them.

For instance photoshop will open them.

google fuji raw convertor OR find the cd which came with your camera it should have software on it.

Fuji's web site said that it is working on a converter. Should i save them to a cd and then work with them after they bring out a converter?

Download irfanview, BEST IMAGE VIEWER EVER! It's free too. http://www.irfanview.com

It supports RAW formats. You have to open the file, and resave it as a jpeg. You can also do batch conversion if you have multiple photos to convert.

You can always get Picasa from Google, that supports RAW files and is a good organizer.
