  • Car sitting for a while - any prep work recommended?

Hey guys/gals, I'll be letting the 6 sit for let's say 3 - 5 months here shortly, no garage, northeast climate. Is there anything I should do to prep her? My oil is still at 90% life, I'll wash it by hand right before, and I'll put a sun deflector in the front windshield.

But should I fill the gas tank completely full? Run the vents for a while to clear out moisture? Anything I'm not thinking of?

    Thanks

You're going to have a car cover right? If you can you should invest in one of those car tents for the outdoors. I'd wax that sucker too.

undo the negative to the battery and i think i heard someone say you should probably jack it up so the tires don't sit on the ground.

You won't have to do much to the car... at most undo the negative battery cable so the battery doesn't wear down and go dead. Other then that nothing really else. Washing and waxing would be good as well. Your tires shouldn't get flat spots after 6 months, if you were gonna leave it 6 years then that's different.

Also put fuel stabilizers in your gas tank, start your car and rock it so it mixes well and gets in your fuel lines.

Keep it at my house, then you wont have to worry about flat spots and stabilizer... You will prolly need new tires when you come back tho

I left my car sitting outdoors for 3 months with no problem. The tires did develop a slight flat spot but after a day of driving it's back to normal.

I let my brother drive my old car and he killed it. My buddy back in training had a sister who destroyed his truck. Good luck Erik .
