  • Stains on the windshield

My 2007 G6 GT has stains on the outside of the windshield. I've tried buffing them out with a buffer and a polish and it's not done any good. It is hard to drive the car at night because of this. Any ideas? I did a search and can't find what I'm looking for. Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is it oily at all? What does it look like.

It's not oily. It looks like someone spilled something all over it. The paint has it also but since It's white you really don't notice it unless your looking for it. By the way I bought it this way and I thought it just needed a good cleaning but that didn't do it.

Sounds like you let water from the sprinklers hit your car. I think they're hard water spots, I have them too, they're annoying as hell.

It's different then any water spots I've seen. But I guess It could be.

If they are water spots try some vinegar, if that's what they are they should come off easily.

What kind of polish and pad are you using.

I had these on my windows too and they were annoying. I tried the vinagar but that didn't do anything. What did get rid of them for me was using some mothers mag wheel polish and rubbing them out by hand and they went away.

Thanks. At least I have some more things to try. Edit, The camera won't pick it up. If your looking at the car, even close you wouldn't notice it. But driving it at night you can't miss it.

Sounds like hard water stains or possible etching. Hard water stains are Calcium or Lime deposits. Some C-L-R or humidifier cleaner from the hardware store should remove this. Not sure if this stuff is paint safe, though. If the glass some how got etched or lightly scratched, glass polishing compound and a buffing wheel should take care of it. This compound is much harder material, than metal polishing compound and is availible at most auto restoration supply places. I'm quite sure eastwoodco.com sells it. As for how it maybee got etched. A glass shop, once cleaned my newly installed windshield with improperly dilluted industrial car wash detergent. That did it. He had to replace it again, the next day.

I took it to the dealer today and they sent me to the glass shop they use and they said replace the windsheild under warrenty. The Gm rep will be in town next week and the dealer will let me know. I guess we will see what happens. I'll let you know. Thanks.
