  • Any interest in a hood?

I've emailed Eric @ MPD before about making a hood for the Malibu in the existing style of the 06-07 MPD Impala hood, and his response was that they weren't interested in making one. I don't know if he's had anyone else inquire about a hood, but I was thinking we might could get one made if we could get 5 of us to commit to it (seeing as how that seems to be the magic number for the G6 group buys). Would any of you be interested in this? Here's the link for some big shots: LINK

Mods: Vector 93 ECM/TCM, Addco prototype 7/8" rear sway bar, Powerslot Cryo rotors, Hawk ceramic pads, Yokohama AVID W4S 245/45/18 on Cobalt SS/TC wheels, Pioneer DEH-P6900UB, Alpine PDX-1.600 pushing a 12" Kicker L7, Scosche DIC, Peripheral steering wheel control kit

    Holy Crap

If its functional I would definitely be interested in that!! I dont really see the point if its just for show, but it functional, as I said, I'd be all over that shit!! Count me in!! Its not cheap tho... WOW!! $$875 plus paint!!! anyways... also we could see if he adapt a "Aluminum MPD CAI" that he recommends, to work with our Malibus...

Yea but for Eric @ MPD 5 is good for a group buy for hoods. Not sure for a NEW hood though if just 5 hoods would be worth it for Eric to design a all new hood.

If you guys still have a hard time, do a search for custom hoods on yahoo or google and theres a few compaines that will do it. So dont give up if other compaines still say no

              not functional though.
and erik has a key point. 5 is just for a GB. making a entire brand new hood is a completley different story,

Re: Any interest in a hood?

Yeah, I know getting him to produce something new is a long shot, but I figured if I came with 4 other names it would give it a little more weight than just me. I wouldn't be surprised if it runs the same price as the Impala hood, so quite pricey after paint. But we'll see. I'll keep an eye on this for a few weeks and see if we get any more trickle in to answer, then re-evaluate whether we want to try or not.

Re: Any interest in a hood?

I cant do a new hood design for 5 hoods. its about a min. of 300 hours and some $$ to get the job done. About 2500.00 per hood at that rate. Doing some hoods for trucks and Corvette's next.

Im guessing that the hood is steel, correct?? would it be cheaper in fiberglass?? My buddy has an 07 Charger, and there are two different hoods available for his car, one steel at $ 1065, and one fiberglass at $460. just a thought...
ps: both have functional ram air...
