  • only a tensioner right?

    so there's a tensioner or a pully right here

    bottom right ish in this pic

    whole belt system



    if this tensioner were to be, say, bypassed for some reason... so with a new belt, do you guys believe the angle of the belt coming off the crank would still let it turn the belt if say there was a pulley in a position like such

    (black circle)



    or am i going to need to put a new/relocate the existing tensioner over to say here...




    my guess is i'll have to go with option 2...

    If I get what you're saying it looks like option 1 wouldn't have much surface area applied and might slip.?.

      that's what i figured more or less... but there's a few guys that have some more technical knowledge than me especially as it pertains to this car so i was looking for some opinions...

        Well, unless you enjoy the sound of a squeeky belt, leave the tensioner as it is, it is there for a reason. Without it you would have to have the PERFECT size belt that DOES NOT stretch over time which would be IMPOSSIBLE to get on.

          Does this pulley in the new position cause positive pressure in the intake manifold by any chance?

                  I think you would be short a few g's for the rest of the kit. So, what are you thinking Colin, what's your plan?

                            i believe this thread will contain some useful 'pulley information'

                            edit: specifically around page 8, but the whole thread is full of awesome.
