  • Anyone take the shifter out yet

I am putting the leather shifter on my hoopty along with the leather steering wheel and 6 disc changer. Anyways I am trying to figure out how to get the top portion of the shifter off. I got the large chrome piece off and the slide in plactic thing at the top of the shifter but cant figure out where to go from there. If anyone has a clue let me know. Oh and I tried to get the bottom plastic ring off but it doesn't seem to want to come off. This will probably become a sticky in the how to but anyways help me out. And one more thing, is the dealer the only way to get the new radio to work or can I go to a shop that might have a scanner or something like that?

Ok never mind I got the chrome ring off and it just took a lil force. There is a phillips screw head on there. I will post a how to if it is even worth the time when I get it finished. The part isn't in I was just doing my research before I installed.
