  • How to keep wheels looking good?

My car is a 05 GT sedan with the 17in chrometech wheels. The car came from Florida and as far as I know has never seen a winter or salt on the roads like have here in Iowa. The wheels have a great shine to them now. And I know they have a plastic cover over the cast wheel. My ? is how do I keep them looking like new{like they do now} in the winter. Wax? What do you people in the northern states use. I did a search and could not find anything. Thanks in advance.

I thought about a set of steelies for winter. But I don't want to have to store them in the summer. I might have to anyway depending on how the Yokohama's do in the snow. Wax is what I'm thinking also. Anybody else?

i use a turtle wax chrome polisher that repels water and such, also deep cleans the chrome. i guess if you use it like every week you will be good to go

I could be wrong but I don't think you have the same kind of wheel the GT has. It has a plastic cover over the cast aluminium wheel . I don't know if I should use a polish on chrome plastic. I wish I did have the GTP wheels. Oh well.

I have the 5 spoke GT wheels too. Yeah they're the cladded wheels with the plastic covering kinda stuff. I've waxed mine and they turn out amazing. The first time I did it I was shocked at how good they looked. They clean up so much easier if you wax them occasionally. Click my sig to see if they're the same wheels. I'd recommend it personally. It sure ain't gonna hurt anything.

I've always used meguirs tire shine gel spray to keep my rims from getting gunked up. I'll spray it on after I wash my car and then use a rag to wipe it off. It lasts for quite a bit and seems to keep stuff from gunking up my rims. I do have the gtp ultra brights but I'm sure it would work as good on the 17inch chrome tech. I've also used it on my chrome exhaust tip and its prevented my exhaust tip from being destroyed by the winter salt.

I use rain-x and it keeps my wheels shining and spotless for weeks.

Thats what I actually do as well,
                          Wheel cleaner,
Windex and a nice coat of wax.

For a wheel cleaner I would suggest Black Magic, for some reason I found this stuff to be the best stuff out there as for the Wax Meguiars gold class wax is amazing as well.

I use WD-40. I clean the car in the winter, pull it into the garage and put a light coat of WD on them. It is oily and all that so they don't look so hot but it keeps anything and everything from sticking to them. Just my opinion, but it works great.
