  • exhaust question.

I am putting dual exhaust on my car but i am wondering wich way to go. Ihave seen gus cutting out the resinator and putting new mufflers at the back. Also i have heard of guys leaving in the stock resinator and getting a y-pipe made up for the dual outlets. Kind of scard to do it with the y- pipe not sure how loud it will be or even if it would sound any good. Any feedback would be great!!

It is your call but the resonator is very restrictive. I would cut it all and get a single in dual out muf. It really isn't that loud and you will get much better gains. If you are interested you might want to look into the GTr system. Do a search.

Yeah I'm gonna try out the GT-R system. According to the quoted 4-6 week wait, I should have about 2-4 weeks left.

I had the stock resonator cut out and settled on an 18" resonator after trying it without one. I didn't like the sound. Not that it was TOO loud, but you could hear every cylinder. I have 2 1/2" pipe back from the cat Y pipe. Machine bent, not mandrel. Th exhaust flows into a stainless single in dual out Magnaflow. I added 4" rolled edge tips. I like how my G6 sounds.
I paid about $400.00 for the work and parts. Some have done it better, some have done it cheaper, but this works for me.

Went to a local shop and asked about doin a custom cat back and he told me he wouldn't touch it. Worried about fuckin the engine up or something. mentioned somethin about the resrictive nature of the car and how upgrading with out a researched pkg from borla/flowmaster etc might ruin the car. Thats the second shop that has told me that. Are they talking out their ass or is there some truth to what they say?

they probably just think you'll sue them if something happens and you have to take the car in for warranty work and the dealership denies you

Yeah, I got the same story from the first shop I went to... But, after I got the exhaust done at the second shop, the only difference I have actually noticed is lower city mpg's. I think this phenomenon is referred to as 'lead-foot syndrome.'

I have heard that magnaflow sets will be milder than flowmaster, maybe a little softer or less metallic, too.

Best of luck with finding a reputable shop who will take their time on your ride!

I am not sure it they will fit but yes there was a performance improvement. Add the intake from kyle and you will be moving.

I have the base V6 sedan with single exhaust. Would I be able to put the GT-R dual exhaust on my car and have an improvement in hp and torque??
