  • Debadging Woes...

Ok so I removed my GM sqaures and the drivers side one looks great, the passenger side - not so much After I took it off and cleaned up the tape residue there was this sqaure ring left around where the badge had been.

Those were the best pics I could get of it. It looks like there might have been something under the badges edges and it ate away at the clearcoat because the paint is still there just sort of bubbly. Is it possible to get something to seal it with so it looks semi-normal?

Care to explain a little bit more on how it looks and feels?

Where the line is you can tell it dips down by running your finger over it and its not smooth like the rest of the paint. It just doesn't have that shine anymore.

Ok then, sounds like you should be able to fix it. Get some polish such as scratch-x or similar and try that. It's probably just embedded surface residue, and as long as the paint isn't cracked, bubbled or peeling then you're good.

I don't think the badges need to come off that bad.

When I removed my "PONTIAC" and the "G6" it left something that I could swear was a scratch. I used layers and layers of Scratch-X, and then even more of Maguiars Gold Glass. Eventually, it came off completely, and now looks there was never any badges at all.
