Lowering my G6 this weekend

I'm a truck guy and I have never worked on a passenger car in my life...I'm gonna lower my car this weekend and have a few questions for those who already did this...

First of all, do I need a spring compressor or can it be done without?

The rear seems simple enough to do, but the front, do I have to unbolt the bolts under the hood attaching the strut? Do I have to take off the sway bar? Do I have to get an alignment afterwards?

Any other instructions would be awesome cause im going into this blind.
