    Pretty Engine Cover

    Now that I have the baby back, I can work on it some. First order of business, the engine cover. So I did that today.

    The first thing I did was cover the letters with a white shelf paper, and then used an exacto knife to cut out around them.


    First coat


    Second coat


    Its dry, start peeling the shelfing paper back off...


    Shelfing paper removed....


    Final product, back in the car....


    Tomorrow...Im gonna do the calipers in the same color.

    Afterall, Im a girl, so my purse HAS to match my shoes

        looks good! I was going to paint my engine cover too, but I just took off my air intake tube and painted that and just taped off those ruber bend pieces. Then after doing that, though it might clash too much if painted my engine cover too.

                  about the air tube.. i got the bright ass idea to paint the whole thing.. went to put it on and paint chipped off the rubber peices everywhere.. i felt like such a dumbass.. so now tomorrow i get to work on cleaning it all off..

                    Ouch...

                    After watching all the posts on the engine cover, I went to Autozone and got the Duplicolor paint that everyone else had been using.

                    The guy at autozone told me repeatedly that it wouldnt work, it would chip off. But (maybe because its not smooth plastic? Kind of grainy) it held really well. I even tried running my nails across it to scratch it off....and it held.

                            What kind of paint did you use? If I do mine I'd want it to be the same red as my car. I've been having trouble finding a match at stores around town.
