My post was very much on topic. It's not cheap to do. If it is a direct bolt-on replacement (which I don't know for sure it is), you need, at minimum, the transmission, a TCM, possibly an ECM and or BCM. Couldn't tell you what else, but I doubt it's as simple as those few components.

You wouldn't need a TCM. The driver is the TCM.

But yeah, it would be a crapload of work and money.

Doesn't mean one wouldn't be needed

This guy took the 6 Man. and put it into his buick renatta. Maybe this will give you some kind of idea of how much work is involved. Not the same engine though.

Re: 6 speed conversion ??? possible?

When I bought the silver 6, it was an automatic. And I hated it. I had never had an auto - and didn't really want to start then - but it was the only choice I had at that moment, and of course - I wasn't going to wait...

So I asked about it too. I got an honest estimate of about $7000-$8000 to get it done. Some even said upwards of $10,000.

Guess I'm kinda glad my 'bad luck' came along - and I got what I *really* wanted in the long run...

Moral of the story: You're prolly better off buying a new car if that's what you really want...

Re: 6 speed conversion ??? possible?

so there really needs to be some clarification on whether or not this is the 6speed MT or the AT... i always understood saying 6speed or 5speed as being manual, but after lurking around here for a while i came to realize that it can just as easily mean automatic...

                        6spd mt ftw btw

Well... I *assumed* since he had the 3.5 he must have the automatic, and must've been asking about switching to a manual. But I *guess* he could have been asking for a 6spd automatic??

If you were to obtain most of the parts salvage, which I did...well $650 for the trans (new) but $1k for everything else (clutch pedal assembly, master cylinder, flywheel, used clutch and pressure plate, CV shafts, jackshaft...) I would imagine it would all bolt in but would take a lot of time and obviously a good amount of money
