  • Vector Motorsports 3.5L PCM, Questions for you the consumer!

Well I've finally got enough time to start working on the 3.5L full time; I've been testing various transmission parameters in the mean time. Anyway I was curious if we should:

    1. Set the PCM up for 93 octane, best performance but a marginally higher cost per fill up.

    2. Start a waiting list? LOL

As long as it's worth it go for the 93. What would be the difference between 93 and 89?

Put me on the waiting list.

        Thanks for doing this BTW.

Yes but is the performance increase worth the .20 per gallon...? Tell me how many HP and lbs of torque are gained... Then we can decide. Has there been a dyno test of the 3.9 manual yet?

Im def interested... any word on a price or whatnot? Im honestly not that worried about performance gains personally (some would be nice) I'm honestly more wanting better shiftpoints and whatnot!

Pricing would be $399 + Return shipping on your PCM. Performance with the 93 will be quite a bit different than 87/89 four to six points is a BIG difference in how much timing we can run!

Just so everyone knows the 3.9 manual gain was 7 hp and 10 lb ft of torque to the wheels on a hot motor.

And thats on a hot motor calibrated for 91 octane stock.. not too bad considering the gains were at the tires. We expect quite a bit more on the 3.5L.

The gains are great, but I asked myself this question after I did this to my GP because I was not sure if they were great enough...

Is 7+ hp and 10+ lb ft of torque worth $399 plus yearly costs (if you drive 15K a year that is an additional $130+ if you average 23 mpg which is about what I get on my GT and assuming Premium is 20 cents more than regular)?

                            I dunno?

And I will go ahead and answer myself so you don't have to.

                            "Then don't buy one."

                            Just something to think about,

Uh your basing gains on a motor that was caled for 91 octane anyhow versus one thats caled for 86 and we dont even know what we can get out of them yet but I'm sure it's more than 7/10 on this engine.
