Thought everyone would like to know what a great car we have!!! An old man pulled out in front of me in his 99 Escort - this is what happened to his car & mine!

This wasn't exactly what I had in mind for a "modification".....






I'm okay - only minor injuries.... Other guy not so lucky - lots of broken bones....

You can bet my new one is going to have side impact airbags!!!! I plan on getting the GTP version this time!!!

I'm the one on crutches. I have a bad sprain in my foot (I'm guessing from where I stomped on the brake plus I had boots with heels...), badly bruised knees (hit under the steering wheel since I didn't have my belt on... ). My neck & shoulders are pretty sore, but other than that I walk scott-free... The old man is all broken up I feel so bad. His car is the one beside mine... He just came out of nowhere. He already admitted to fault and his insurance company is d*cking me around about the car.

Since there's no "blue book value" yet, they are claiming the value to be practically the MSRP. I had 20,000 miles already!!! Now we all know that car has lost market value in mileage alone. Anyway - they found frame damage today (upon a second inspection after I brought up I was hiring an attorney) and had a figure of $13,400 as of this afternoon. We were waiting on the new estimate to come back with the updated figure. I never heard anything.

I refuse to accept the car being repaired. I won't have it. So - tomorrow I'm on a mission to make their life miserable....

That car is awesome though! The airbag didn't even hurt - it was like a soft pillow hitting you slowly. It was weird.... You know how the stereo keeps playing until you open the door? Well I couldn't open the driver's side door - it was jammed shut. So I crawled out of the passenger side and a few minutes went by before I realized I was holding a private concert for all the onlookers!! :smoke: I had someone turn it down....

Anyway - I'm waiting to get my new fully loaded (with side airbags :P ) black GTP 6speed. I sure will be glad to get back to my manual. This is the first automatic I'd ever had - wished I had bought the GTP to begin with.... Guess all things really DO happen for a reason!!!

Gotta re-install all my stuff - Gotta re-tint - Gotta re-graphic it - Gotta order a new air intake... Glad I never did that custom exhaust yet!

glad you are alright despite the injuries. i have been in two crashes in which the car i was in got totalled but i was only driving once. i flipped my Envoy over in downtown boston and my buddy wrecked his GSX passing traffic in the brakedown lane in a snowstorm. both times i was wearing my seatbelt which is the only reason i got out unharmed. it is a good habit to get into. i don't even feel safe driving across the parking lot without mine on (especially after rolling a vehicle), i dunno how people can drive without them.
