  • Air Intake

Does anyone know how much horsepower and torque you get from adding an air intake.

search and you shall find. But I'm telling you now the gains are very minimal.

Depending on different models and a lot of factors you would normally get probably 5-10. Small, but it's a start.

as others have stated the power gains from the intake alone are minimal, but the fact that it opens up your engine to breathe better means that other modifications, such as exhaust, ignition, or a custom tune will all benefit that much more. these little bolt on mods are a perfect example of 'the sum of all the parts'. if you just do one it is a nice mod, and you get some gains, but they all play off each other very well when combined.

why hasn't anybody really dynoed their G6's yet with intakes/exhausts?

i don't think dynoing it with just an intake/exhaust is really worth it. they may show a dozen hp over base or so, but i wouldn't bother with it until i had forced induction or something else that would actually make a difference.

yea, i didnt mean it was worth it to me to dyno, but i'd still like somebody else to do it so i can see the results

Really you only get the intake for the sound.

                      Pretty much.

i like the way it shifts much better with the intake...if you floor it in auto it redlines between 1st and 2nd which didnt happen before

Mine does that. But it's probably more refined with the intake.

Some intakes improve economy some don't, some improve sound some don't, some improve performance some don't, and some improve looks some don't. Just depends on the intake. I found the Dr Speed Cold Air Box to improve performance, sound, and looks. I am not sure about economy. It looks better, see my post, it sounds better, see my post tonight, and it performs better, the butt dyno says so!
