I have te passport radar 8500 series. Great radar!, but recently the "laser" just keeps going off, its really annoying. Like every min or so itll go off, and nothing around. Does anyone else have this radar or ever heard of this problem? Do you think the radar is on its way out the door?

Funny you say that...
I have the same one and whenever I have to apply the brakes hard, like when someone cuts me off, and I honk my horn...the stupid Laser warning goes off...its weird.
Someone else I know, who has a turbo Talon, whenever he floors it and the turbo is spooling, it makes the laser go off lol...I'm not quite sure it means its going bad...but I dunno.2008 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC

that is strange, do you have yours hardwired? Im not sure if that has anything to do with it. I guess Ill have to check with a buddy of mine that works with all electronics, maybe hell know. I just can't stand it, I almost threw it out the window this morning thats how much it drove me crazy.06' G6 GT SEDAN,LIQUID SILVER,35%TINT, HARDWIRE RADAR,REMOTE START,PAN. I know the Highway Patrol in Michigan use LIDAR(Laser) . I remember when I went to GAP '02, they would sit in the middle highway and point.2008 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 GT

And at first when it started happening I was like wtf where's the cop? However it just does it as explained above...no cop anywhere. It scares the shit outta me when it happens tho!2008 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC

yeah whenever i got Laser it use to scare the crap outa me, now whenever it goes off I just get annoyed. Ill have to take it out of the G6 and put it in my other car and see maybe it has to do with it being hardwired or cig. lighter or Ill try it in the g6 with the cig. lighter too. Hopefully I can figure what the problem is.
Certain Twp. use different types of radar, and some use LINDAR,buts its rare, I know in PA they use the lasar all the time.06' G6 GT SEDAN,LIQUID SILVER,35%TINT, HARDWIRE RADAR,REMOTE START,PAN. SUNROOF,NOKYA HEADLIGHT AND FOG BULBS,BLUE REVERSE LIGHTS,HID ON THERE WAY,SPOILER TO BE INSTALLED

Sorry to get slightly off topic here, but has anyone ever used one of those radar jamming devices?
I don't speed nearly as much as I use to, so I'd rather not have a radar detector chirping every two seconds driving me nuts even when I'm doing 45mph in the city, but I'd like a little piece of mind for those times when I get throttle happy and don't see Johnny Law behind a bush.-Kevin

I've only used Cobra radar detectors but my last one after a few years starting going off non stop so I just took it out and threw it away-the sun here really kills things up on the dash.TRADED IN BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN: 2006 GT Coupe in granite metallic, 15/5% tint, vinyl side marker deletes, Doctor Speed Stage 3 CAI, RED calipers by DupliColor, RED LED interior lights, 45 LED tail lights, WideView 8000K HID coversion kit, Nokya Artic White fogs installed, running MoBil 1, FIRST ever granite metallic color matched headlights!! Color matched eyelids just finished! GT-R Exhaust installed. R1 Concepts drilled and slotted zinc plated front rotors.

ive had mine for 5years now, but most of the time its been in the shade well at least hiden behind the tint, so I wouldn't think the heat would get to it. I don't speed as much as I use to either, but I also use it to warn me because itll give me time to look out so I can roll down my windows because of tint.
as for the jammers, ive never used one or know much about them06' G6 GT SEDAN,LIQUID SILVER,35%TINT, HARDWIRE RADAR,REMOTE START,PAN. SUNROOF,NOKYA HEADLIGHT AND FOG BULBS,BLUE REVERSE LIGHTS,HID ON THERE WAY,SPOILER TO BE INSTALLED

I used to own a couple myself...totally pointless when you can spend $100 more and get one that works REALLY well.2008 Chevy Cobalt SS/TC

i have a cobra and i am happy with it. if i bought anything more expensive than i would go with a Valentine 1 hands down. my parents use them in their vettes and my mom's yukon and they love them. she has had one since she got her SSEi in like '96 and she has never had a problem with them.

yep. I've had two cobras, and my dad has one, and they work awesome. People think you need to spend hundreds of dollars for all these fancy features...but you really don't. When that thing goes off, the brain automatically tells the foot to step on the brake. And that's all you really need.
