Pontiac paint codes can be confusing! For example, the color code 96/WA8867 listed on our site can be shown on your vehicle as 96U or 96L or 8867 or WA8867. Often there will be a BC CC before the color code. This stands for Basecoat/Clearcoat. The U in the paint code means the Upper Color and the L means the Lower Color. Two tone vehicles will have each color coded, i.e. 96U and say 36L. Also, it could be 8867L or 8867U.
Ever since that paint thread with the bodykit, there has been debate on the number of paint codes for each color. Let's just see how many there are, if they do infact vary. The code can be found on the white sticker in your glove box. It is the group of numbers at the bottom, next to where it says, for example "BC/CC" (Base Coat/Clear Coat) for me since my car is black. Then next to that, it says "U8555" which means Upper color, and then the code 8555. So...
Black - U8555
