Does anyone know how many watts the Monsoon stereo is and mine (6 CD changer & XM...UN0 I think??). All I know is mine sounds better than the Monsoon that was in my 2000 Z28 and almost as good as the Blaupunkt (200 watts) that was in my '04 GTO I just traded in. If the Blaupunkt is 200, the mine is probably 150-180, imo.

I would guess the rms to be around 100 watts. This is just a guess but you can normally take the max of an amp and devide it in half to get your continual. I am pushing about 60 watts for all the speakers. I didn't really notice the crap I was missing by getting the v6 and not the gt.

No kidding. I replaced my 6x9's the day I bought the car. I just had the eclipse 4 ways sitting in a box. I won them in a comp. I am going to rip the whole stock system out and do am double din eclipse navi and some thump in the trunk.

Which navi are you looking at? I might end up snagging the AVN5495 or the 7000. Both are lookin really nice.

The 5495 all the way. The built in hd and the double din is what I am lookin for. I can just rip all my cd's an there and I will be set. The only thing that pisses me off is that this is their "high end" stuff but they only have 5volt pre outs. The single din reg cd players have 8 volt. That kinda sucks. The only things I am kinda upset about loosing on the 6er is the oil and the gas milage. The other stuff can be compensated for by the navi except fuel range. I would get a single din if the kits werent so ugly.

Well atleast the older ones have the 8 volt. My buddy just put one in his trail blazer. He couldn't get it to work. lol He called me and he didn't have an aux switch in his factory harnes so he had to run a hot lead to his fuse box. Less than 2 days after putting that and his alarm on his ride it got broken into. They didn't get anything. He has the viper 791. I gave it to him for free. It was an extra.

Yeah I have my eye on the 5495, 3 sets of 5 volts aren't 8 but they are still good enough for most people. Sounds dumb but I like the temp control, and gas mileage read out and thats whats keeping me from putting this thing in. Well for now anyways. Maybe when the fun factor wears off I'll start tearing up the stereo for a new one.

A double din is the way to go in these cars, and I hate the singles that has a fold out screen. They aren't as clean looking.

I just checked through my brochure (2006 model year) and it doesn't mention the power output for any system besides the Monsoon. Sorry

The base headunit puts around 8 watts per channel. So your looking at 30 watts or so.

That's a big difference. The monsoon is awesome, but I think one of my rear speakers is starting to crap out on me. Good reason to replace them with some nice aftermarkets
