  • Error on the powertrain page?

I just realized that the actual Pontiac site lists these specs for the engines of the g6's:

    ECOTEC, 2.4L 4-cylinder MFI with 169 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque
    3.5L V6 with 224 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque
    3.9L V6 SFI with 240 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque
    3.6L V6 SFI with 252 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque

While the powertrain page list these:

    http://www.g6performance.com/g6-powertrain-info.html

    ECOTEC, 2.4L 4-cylinder MFI with 167 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque
    3.5L 3500 V6 with 201 hp and 222 lb-ft of torque
    3.9L 3900 V6 SFI with 240 hp and 241 lb-ft of torque

    Am I missing something?

The 3.5 in 05 and 06 came with 201 hp then they upped it.

So what is the performance difference between the 05-06 3.5 and the 07+ 3.5 engines?
Seems like there is only minimal difference between the two V6s.

Just get the GTP like you did and never mind the rest of the vanilla flavored G6s.

There two completly diffrent engine all together first. All they share is the 3.5L size. 05-06 is based off of the 3400 with just a bigger bore and new computer system. The 07 3500 is a new engine based off of the 3900. The 07 3500 has VVT as the 05-06 does not. The HP diffence is about 23 I belive, torque I dont know. Also being based off the 3900 in 07, that engine most likely generates more torque to get it moving off the line just like the 3900. As the 05-06 is based off the 3400 and generates its power more mid band then down low to get you moving right away.

                            You were? How?

I like my pushrod. If I wanted DOHC I would have gotten an Accord.

Different engine, more output. Pretty gay after 1 year, basically just a filler engine. I like mine too but I'd trade it in an instant for a 3.6L.
