2008 GTP?

Word is that there will be no GTP model in 2008. Any truth to this? Do I have to rush into a dealer and get an '07 GTP because I don't like the GXP?

Yes, the GTP trim has been discontinued for 2008. As has the available panoramic sunroof.

Damn shame I say, I love my pano and the GXP is fugly as hell. Glad I bought an '07!

I'm not too concerned about the name plate change, more the body changes. I figure I won't be ready to pick up a G6 until later 2007. If they are done with the GTPs by then, I'll have to go with the GXP. So long as I have the same body options as the current GTP, that is fine. I am hoping that the crazy body mods are only in the "street" version.

As far as I can tell, if you get the non-street GXP, the only thing you'll have to deal with is the front grilles. And if you wanted a pano roof, it's gone. On the plus side, the '08 G6s finally get an MP3 stereo.

Hold-over GTPs will still be around for a while I think, so it's up to personal preference really.

Sounds like the G6 may get the black tie radio that's in nearly every other GM car.

I can't say for sure, but there have been many GXP variations at the various auto shows, but the front grilles have always been there.

It's *possible* the non-street may have normal grilles though, only because it seems kind of dumb to me that GM would handicap themselves with having to take the time to put a whole new grille on every single car that would've been a GTP. Senseless overcomplication. But then again, that's GM's style..

Same. I'm wondering how much a swap would cost. Would be nice to be able to get it as a free "TSB" fix, considering GM put out a press release back in 2006 promising that every single 2007 GM car would have MP3/AUX ability...
